RE: A Bear bow or something else?
Shoot as many bows as you can in your price range and pick the one that you feel fits you the best. There are a lot of great bows out there but there might be only a handful that fit your shooting style and form.

Right I was going to do that when I get some time I was mainly wondering about the quality of the bows

Fred Bear makes some very nice bows. IMO, the Lights Out is the best beginner bow on the market. MSRP is $380, but you canget them cheaper on ebay.

I was going to buy a Bear Code for my first bow but a buddy's dad convinced me to get a PSE Nova -- I should have bought the Code. Point is -- follow you gut; shoot what you like. Most of the top manufactuers make good products -- some very good bows in the 400 range. One thing you might want to try is shoot a bunch of bows and then check out huntersfriend.com because theysell bow packages that arrive at you doorready to shoot basically -- just a thought

and is very forgiving as my form is still developing LOL....as far as speed and all that it really doesnt matter to me.Itwill put a deer down.. Good luck on your decision |

I just picked up a Bear Instinct package at Bass Pro for 299. Its got a rest, sight, and quiver. It flat out smokes the arrows I have now. Pluss I didn't have to spendtwo or three times the price of this one to get a decent bow. Idon't have a stabilizer yet and am notsure I will need one.It may just mean more weight. Its smooth drawing and shoots nice...
I've had otherBear bows in thepast, and in fact have several Bear Traditional bows. I never had an issue with quality. Thecheaper bows were a bit cheap looking by todays standards but in the time when they were new they were fine. The function just as welltoday as they always havetoo. I have a longbow from the 50's... Its very nice and shootssweet. So I give them credit for makingsome great bows over the years. |
