Anchor/Form?

How important is it to touch the nose to the string at full draw?
I recently lowered my anchor point and the only way to get my nose on the string is to severely lean my head forward, which is way uncomfortable. I'm not shooting a short ATA bow...it's 38".

If it is necessary to get your nose to the string, any suggestions are appreciated (ie-increased draw?)

RE: Anchor/Form?

I don't think it's an absolute, any anchor will work as long as it's easily repeatable. Many just find that nose to string provides another point of contact/reference to help solidify their anchor point. If you're shooting well without your nose touching the string, I wouldn't sweat it. But if your groups start opening up, check to make sure your anchor point hasn't changed...

RE: Anchor/Form?

Thanks Rangeball.

I'm actually doing a little form tinkering. I've been shooting a mongoose release and had my nose to the string but have noticed that my indoor scores weren't as good as they could be (293 31x avg.) and that my 20 pin was way low.

So, I've switched to a Stan and dropped my anchor point. Doing so has the string too far from my face to reach with the nose. As far as groups are concerned, I'm felling lucky just to hit the bail at 20 using the new set-up.

I do have all my teeth and no busted noses to date...Knock on wood...
