Bowtech Guardian
I just bought a new 2008 Guardian it's set at 65lbs and I have a draw of 29". I'm shooting carbon express maxima 350 hunters with a 100gr. tip, I'm only getting 269fps out this setup, is that typical? I though it would be much closer to 290, anyone have any input?

RE: Bowtech Guardian
Is your cams timed and set for the proper rotation?
What Chrono did you shoot through? Have you just shot through one? What does your arrow weigh? What did your BC say? Dan |

390gr. arrow As far as cams being timed and what not I have no idea. I shot through only one chrono and I don't know the brand. On my birth certificate that's the only thing not filled out. Well at least I answered one of your questions. [/align] |
RE: Bowtech Guardian
I think you maybe able to drop down to the 250 arrows, and that will get you some added speed
|
RE: Bowtech Guardian
How much added speed should I expect if I crank it up to 71lbs?

RE: Bowtech Guardian
Anyone else shoot the Guardian? How many fps are you getting?
|
RE: Bowtech Guardian
What do you have on your string and do you use a peep with a rubber tube? Weight on the string takes away speed and using a peep with a rubber tube can take 6-10fps away as well.
|
RE: Bowtech Guardian
I have a peep sight without the tube and a kisser button. I also have two little rubber things under my brass nock to keep the arrow in place. He said he put two on in case one broke off.

RE: Bowtech Guardian
cave62, it may just be a combo of things. You have a little extra weight on the string as opposed to those that only have a peep and loop on their string, you have a 29" DL so will lose about 10fps right there from IBO, your losing some more with the extra 40grns in weight on arrow, your bow may be somewhat out of spec/tune, and IBO's for most bows in most cases are stated as higher than they actually are.

Now you have.

Looks like Jon needs to slow down and fill in all the spaces.I'd get it to a Bow Technician that knows his stuff and shoot through a couple of chronos. The Guardians I have played with have been real consistent on speed from one bow to the other once setup isproper. Dan |
RE: Bowtech Guardian
Thank for the help guys, I appreciate it.

RE: Bowtech Guardian
My Guardian shot a 330 grain arrow 282 fps at 60# with a 28" draw.

Cave62, My budy is shooting the General at #65 with the same set up as you and he is getting 260fps, Now I amd shooting my 101st with the same set up as you except my draw is 28 1/2 and I am getting 300 on the button. Walt

RE: Bowtech Guardian
I guess it's right on as far as speed goes, I just thought it would be faster than what it is. I'm not complaining I'm just pretty new to all this stuff, it's really a great bow, super easy to hit the mark.

RE: Bowtech Guardian
my 2007 was shooting a 300 gr. arrow at 279 fps with a 27" draw. I probly could have gotten more out of it but that was fast enough for me.
