Help Tunning
 

Hey all I could really use some help tunning my bow,
I am shooting at 15 yards and aiming constantly at the same spot But my arrows are sonsistantl 2 inches right left up and down from center ???? I paper tunned it and it's perfect what can I do to adjust my Bow I took it to the shop and they said its perfect, someone told me that if I tighten the bolst on the limbs and turn the top one 1 1/4 turns and then the bottom 1/4 turn to a max of 1 1/4 turn the alternate each one a 1/4 turn at a time I should eventually tighten my grouping, is this a proper way to time my bow should that be the problem ? Also I just bought new Beman ICS 400 arrows and had them size me to the center of the riser. I am shooting at 64 lbs also

I know this is a stupid question but did you ever adjust your sights after you paper tuned the bow? You always have to re-sight after tuning.

Also, have you shot further out to see if the miss gets higher and further left? i.e. When you shoot at 25 or 30 are the misses worse in the exact same direction?

I never rely fully on paper tuning for my bow. I've had good tears through paper and when I started shooting I could see the arrow wobbling. Tuned using French tuning and went back to paper and was still dead on. You should check your tune with walk back or French tuning.

If you see the misses getting further left and up adjust your rest right1/32 max (1/64" even) and see if that helped the left to right. Then adjust the rest down 1/32" max (1/64")and check the tuning again.

Yes I did sight in after paper tunning, and also yes my grouping opens up more at 25-30 yards, they are not consistly grouping they are all over the place, I measured the distance from the limb bolt on top and bottom today and got them both exact. it did tighten it up some with still a couple wandering arrows,I am going to get a new nockring tommorow and try again, it is deffinatly wornand I will then adjust from there. also what exactly is french tunning ?

Believe it or not paper tuning isnt much better than eyeballing your arrow rest in my opinion. Ive seen paper tuned bows shoot arrows coming out of the bow either way right or left and then correcting after a few feet. You really need to step back to 30 yard or more and screw on some broadheads and adjust until you achieve perfect flight. You can see any imperfections in flight once you put a broadhead on.

Send me a PM with your email and I'll send you an article on it. It's a great way to tune a bow so that you can correct vertical and horizontal issues at the same time. It's pretty much all I use anymore. At 50 yds you will definitely see if your arrow is doing anything wonky.

Maybe you should list the details of your setup. Bow weight and draw length. Arrow type, spine, length, tip weight and type of fletching. It's possible your arrows are underspined or maybe not enough tip weight (FOC) to pull the arrow along.

There are a multitude of things, but you probably need to start right from scratch. Set up the bow properly for tiller, centershot, nocking point height...... Problems can be caused by a conglomeration of things. You have to pay attention to every detail starting with the basics.

Are all of your arrows the same, nock to vane.... If you have some cock vane up and some cock vane left and some cock vane down or a variety along those lines, that could be part of your problem. Find an arrow that shoots to point of aim, and use it as a compairson to set the other arrows and see what happens.

If you say that they are all the same, then I am at a loss... possibly rest problems....

Also consider numbering your arrows so that you can determine if one or more are consistantly off target.
