Need some arrow advice
 

It is time to get some new arrows, and I am looking for some advice. There are so many to choose from it is mind boggling.

Here is my setup: 2005 Bowtech Tomkat (32 ATA, 8" brace) set @60# and 28" draw. This is a single cam bow. I am shooting a hostage rest

My arrows are 26" long, or 26.5" with the nock, they are the now discontinued CX Eliminator. I am shooting a 100 grain tip with blazer vanes.

I am wanting to go with a heavier weight setup, and a better quality arrow. I think I probably want to go back to the 125 grain tip I was shooting a couple of years ago, and I want the setup to be moderately heavy. Not lincoln logs, but you get the picture. I also want an arrow with .003" runout or less, black finish is fine.

Using this criteria, what are some arrows and size reccommendations from some of you experienced tech guys? I know there are some programs out there that will calculate spine and such, but I don't have access to them. Thanks in advance for any help.

This is what i would Suggest for your set up

Easton Epic 400 - 8.7gpi
Beman ICS 400 - 8.4 gpi or the 340 - 9.3gpi
Victory V3 350 - 8.8 gpi
CX Trerminator Lite 60/75 - 9.1gpi

I am shooting a Browning Mirage 30" a/a 28" draw 27.5" arrow 65#
and I shoot eather a Beman 400 ics 8.4gpi & the Epics 400 8.7 gpi
with a 125gr Wasp Boss and both arrows Impact Exactally the same
this set up is a tack driver Plenty of KE also .

Gold Tip 5575's......I too used to shoot the CX's but like you they kept discontinuing the shafts I was shooting and I went to the Gold tips b/c I can't remember them discontinuing any of their line....
There are a lot of good arrows out there, and any arrow manufacturing will have the charts on their site.

I agree and will say that a easton 340 will be a bit heaver for you if you want more KE

You should be able to find something there and they have a black finish. If those arent heavy enough for ya there are the black mamba's which are big game arrows!

I usually don't recommend particular brand and style of arrows as there are a lot of factors involved in one's choice. What is of major importance is to get those spined correctly for your bow setup. In your case, 28" and 60#, a 400 spine is the right call.

Although there are variations in all the carbon arrows they are so similar that an average archer won't be able to tell any difference. And when people make some specific recommendations I always have to wonder if they've shot every arrow on the market. I already know the answer to this.

Whatever your choice, you should be well served. Be sure, though, that you can get them locally. Your local bow shop will appreciate the business.

I'm shooting the same d/l and 58-60 d/w so we have about the same specs.My arrows are Beman ICS Hunters cut at 28 with Blazers then has 100m grain brass insert with 125 tips.The are heavy FOC(around20%) and weight in at 485+ total grains.They aren't fast but if bow is silenced they should deliver a good punch on game that will penetrate well! They were sized by a fellow member on here not by me but I have faith in them! I know they will push through a bag target farther than the stock lenght and weight so stands to reason would do same on game.You can use Predator vanes instead of Blazers and get a minor increase in FOC,both are lighter than stock vanes!

Thanks guys, I ended up going with the Easton EpicST 400. Available locally ;), and heavier than my old arrows by about 30 grains. Gonna step up to a 125 grain tip instead of a 100 also. Should get me right at 400 grains on a 26.5" shaft.
