Ouch! String snapped- Replacement?
I was shooting an old "Bear - Whitetail Hunter" Compound the other day and i knew the string was old and stretched but you know that saying " Wont happen!!" Well it did. String snapped, scared the crap out of me and took me a few seconds to figure out what the heck happened.
Any clue where to buy new Strings for this? Its the main cable that snapped. I figure on replacing Both strings :D |

Whitetail hunters had a steel cable I believe. Is the cable in good shape? Or just a string.

Where did the cable snap? Did the tear drop pull off the end? You can contact a string maker like Gibblet, but I think this will be of no use. These guys make strings, not cables.
You're likely going to have to hunt around to find someone who puts cables together. Some shop still do it, but they are few and far between. Best bet is to call Lancaster Archery Supply and talk to one of the tech reps there. They may make you a set of cables. And you should probably replace them both. Then order a string for it, but be sure to order one made of dacron or B50. Use fast flight and you'll break the limbs. And don't be surprised if it gets costly. As I said, steelcables are old, old technology. The cables will cost more than the bow is worth. |

you can order the cables from Lancasters , they are listed on their website and not expensive at all. Definitely replace both cables and your string.

Simple enough:
www.lancasterarchery.com One thing to specify. You need cables swaged to the proper length. The cables you see in the catalog are full length and need to be made to the proper length for your bow. If you know someone who can do this then fine. Otherwise you need to tell whoever you talk to at Lancaster. |

Have you checked the limbs, limb pockets, cams, etc. for damage from the broken string?????
You could really hurt yourself if these items go unlooked. |
