No bow press required
 

So I wanted to put a turn in my string to line up my peep better. And I am an expert after reading all the threads on the technical forum. : ) The Guardian does not need a press so I unscrewed the bolt out of the limb and twisted my string. What a pain to get the bolt to seat back in, trying to balance the arm and keep the strings on and work the center pivot forward. There must be a trick! Any comments?

From what I have read, I don't think you are supposed to take the limb bolts all the way out. I think you are just supposed to back them out part way. I'm not 100% positive on this, because I only just picked up my Guardian today and haven't tried it yet.

Not to be a smart arss but did you read the instruction manual that came with your bow?
If you purchased it used I guess you have an excuse. ;)

Unscrew each limb bolt five turns max before doing the same to the other limb bolt. Continue doing this back and forth until you can see daylight in the little hole on the side of the riser where the limb bolts are located. When the limb bolts are tight you can see the threads of the bolt in this little hole.Do not go past this point because you will do what you did and remove the limbs all together. There will be some tension on the strings but it will be minimal and will allow you to remove and install them.

Thanks for the responses, and to answer; Yes I took the bolt completely out and no the manual did not address it specifically. It does address not turning the limbolts out more than recommended with the exception of the Guardian and Commander. So, I assumed I was o.k. I back both out to the point that I could see daylight throught the holes on the side and still could not remove the string. That's when I went all the way with the top bolt. Which I got I back together, but there must be an trick to make it easier.

The manual reads like it was written for a few models and If ya advertise no bow press needed why not give a little instruction on how that works? Or is this common knowledge that I have not picked up on this forum yet?

yeah you don't take them all the way out. The manual says to always leave at least 3 threads in the indicator hole on the riser I'm pretty sure.

It says nothing about it in the owners manual. I read through it a couple times, I didnt see anything about it. The info you need is on the round hang tag that was attached to the riser.

To replace string, cables or install peep sight, back the limb bolt out 5 turns on one end then alternate to the other end, repeating this process until the end of the limb bolt is just visible in the limb bolt viewing hole in the riser (approximately 3 threads visible). String tension will be minimal allowing you to work on the bow as needed.

I just adjusted my buddy's 07 Guardian and I used this option: I backed out the bolts per the manual/tag and then partially released each cable from the cams by removing the cable from one (and only one) of the 'ears' on each cam. This further reduced the tension on the bow without further loosening of the limb bolts.
