Greetings all. New guy here with some questions. I've been away from shooting for about 15yrs and getting back into it. Looking to get a new Bowtech, either the General, Guardian or the 82nd. I was told by a pro shop, that one can change both cables and strings on them without a bow press. Is this true for all these and is it safe?

Only the Guaridan and commader. Not the general or 82nd.

One piece of advice on doing this: If you use a regular allen wrench or a socket, it takes about50 turns to get the limb bolt completely relaxed - takes forever. Use a big cordless drill with the proper size allen head bit to run the bolts in and out; saving the final few turns for the regular allen wrench

I saw my local shop owner change/adjust strings on the General without a press because his press for those bows has not come in yet. He said it was a pain in the a$$ but it worked.

I use a press on my general, I wouldn't advise that anyone not use one. even bowtech says that a press must be used...

Yes, but the one they recommend is like $600 plus another $170 for the stand. What would you use in the field if you nicked a string?
