Have a bow safety question for everyone

Hey everyone, i just inherited a old Pearson Cougar recurve bow with a few stress cracks in it. All of them are vertical and there are no horizontal cracks whatsoever. Please look at the pictures and let me know if it is safe to shoot the bow and if you think the cracks will hurt the integrity of the bow. Thank you!

Personally I would not shoot it. But would hang it on the wall as a display.

I have shot unsafe recurves, and not sure I could recommend the same. The bow appears ok but if thier is those cracks, it could delaminate and then explode. Pull her back carefully and see if you hear anything. But it looks like her life may be over.

If you have to ask it is probably unsafe. Do not shoot it, hang it up.

The fact that you said that it was "inherited" tells me that there is probably some level of sentimental value. Recurves look great hanging on a wall. If you want to shoot one there are 6 of them on e-bay under $50.

I had one of my hunting safety instructors almost loose an eye due to a recurve exploding and it didn't have ANY cracks in it. It wasn't a pretty site - the bow or the shooter. IMPO, shooting the bow showncould verybe dangerous.

Give it to someone to shootwho thinks you should shoot it and stand back - way back. ;)

I'm with Len,if someone says it's safe, let them shoot it.That bow looks very unsafe to me.

The question is not IF it will blow up but WHEN will it blow up.;)

That bow will let go,are you willing to be the one behind it when it goes.
