RE: Stock Bowtech strings...

I had an '05 Diamond and now own a '08 Marquis. Factory strings have held up well for me. After getting it shot in I have put 50-100 shots a day almost every day with no creep. I will probably go until January when its a year old before I replace it. Definitly not junk.

When mine do start wearing I'll be calling gibblet for a Bucknasty Custom string. Good stuff there!

How old was the string on the 05 Diamond when I bought it?I have a 07 Black Ice sitting on front porch waiting on me...need to find out how old that string is too.

I'd put BowTech factory strings up against any aftermarket strings.. period. That's not to say that there aren't some quality aftermarket strings out there, but I'll still put the stock BT strings up against any of them. They're that good.

BowTech makes some great strings. I often change them because I like to pick my colors and it gives me a backup set at my finger tips. Some of myBowTechs I've left the stock strings on and had nothing but great service out of them.

Just over a year on the string and about 9 months on the cable. See, I had this accident with a broadhead. I nicked the cable so John got a replacement to me pretty quick. it should probably be replaced before season.

I think they are good strings. I usually replace with winners choice or whatever I can get my hands on fastest.

I have some serving separation on my commander at the cams after around 400shots. But this appears to be more of an extreme angle they are on.

They are great strings. Remember, the strings on your general are the same strings they use on the speed bows like the 82nd airborne (350 FPS IBO). If you don't like them, I recommend Zebra Barracuda Strings. They are just as fast and you can get them in a variety of colors.

I was hoping to get a debate going between you 2 Russ! Since it is a Bucknasty string I'm not about to replace it and it does shoot well...I take credit for some of that...the rest goes to great string/bow combo!:)I think the B/I likes me.

I got the impression Gibblet likes the floating yoke, at least for Hoyt bows.

When I got my Tech29 back in 2001/02, it had the winners choice string on. I shot itfor 4 years and it still held up fine. Didn't creep. I replaced it with gibblet string. My friends still shoot the original string that came with theirs, same model and same year.

gibblet string is great too.

RE: Stock Bowtech strings...

We, here at RockSolidStrings.com will do floating yokes if they are ordered but we usually recommend the Static yoke, due to the Static yoke Being More tunable in accordance with each individual bows Cam Lean! Some bows Have no Cam Lean at all... expecially with some of Todays Newer Model Bows!! But there are some bows that have a lean problem pretty Regularly to where the Static Yoke would be optimal to be able totwist up one side or the other to Fix the Lean Problem!!

Its all in what you prefer though.....Some people Swear by the Floating yokes and Some would do the same about the Static yokes!! 6 in one hand and half a dozen in another!!;)

RE: Stock Bowtech strings...

Might sound like a dumb question but what is the difference between a static and a floating yoke?

Virginia Archer 05-16-2008 09:28 PM

RE: Stock Bowtech strings...

Static yoke is made into your cable to where you cable hooks to your cam then comes up and splits and goes to both sides of your top limb!

A Floating yoke is a cable made from 2 seperate peices......you have the Cable that attaches to your bottom cam then it would come up and usually have a little loop at the end.....then there is the second peice that runs from one side of the top limb and goes through the Cable loop and back to the other side of the top limb! Which when Drawing will adjust equally to put the same amount of pressure on either side of the top limb!

Well granted that my bow is fairly new, I like the Bowtech string and when it is time I will probably replace it with a Bowtech string. And they will twist what ever colors you want as well.

RE: Stock Bowtech strings...

I have a 2003 Bowtech Extreme VFT and it had been shot alot. Just had some serving separation and replaced it last week for the first time. My proshop makes their own string and cables and I had that put on, rather than purchasing the name brand. It's a bit cheaper and just as good, at least I've had no issues in the past with the homemades on other bows.
