No Peep Question.
I am planning on dumping my Peep and adding a No Peep to my Mathews ' FX.' It seems to be a logical progression.
I was wondering whether any of the Mathews ' FX' shooters on the forum have installed the No Peep and am interested in getting a copy of the Setup Instructions and any pertenant advise available. My questions stem from having the QT 4000 fallaway rest and the Archers Choice Grizzley Site . . . it just seems that the window might be a little short. |
RE: No Peep Question.
Don' t know about FX specifics, but you can mount the NP above or below your current sight depending on how you install the bracket. I' d suspect that if your sight window is large enough for your sight, the NP should work fine...

RE: No Peep Question.
I had my no-peep installed on an MQ-32 with the same sight and had no problem. I mounted mine above the sight.[8D]

RE: No Peep Question.
On the same subject does anyone have this installed with a Trophy Ridge vertical pin site? Also, do you have any problems seeing the peep rings when it' s raining or snowing? Thought I read somewhere where someone had this problem.

RE: No Peep Question.
Yep, Nebraska, I' ve got a NP and a TR Nitro Extreme.
Yes, I' ve got some issues with the NP in the rain/snow, but all of those are quickly resolved with a quick wipe of my finger. I' ve heard the new generation of NP has the front lens recessed into the housing to deal with rain/snow/sun... Great combination IMHO. Jim. |
RE: No Peep Question.
Nebraska Bow Hunter,
I had some problems with the No peep in the rain and snow. Hunting in the winter with freezing rain and snow pretty much made it unuseable. I really liked the no peep but since I' m primarily a hunter I couldnt have something like that let me down more than once. To the no peep' s credit I' m the only one on this forum that I' ve ever heard complain about it in the rain or snow. Cargo |
RE: No Peep Question.
Some pepole like that no peep , I hated it . Would mutch rather use a hind sight . I think that setup with the hindsight and a vertical pin setup would be very nice for hunting . I would not concider a trophy ridge sight up front either , but their are plenty of other companies makeing vertical pin sights now .

RE: No Peep Question.
Me too and I live in the Pacific Northwest where bad weather in the mountains is not all that uncommon.

RE: No Peep Question.
I cant say too mutch about the no peep however I use the Yikes sight that works on the same principal as the no peep and I like it mutch better than a peep.

RE: No Peep Question.
The great thing about the no-peep is, that you don' t need to look at it to shoot. I find myself hardly ever looking at it anymore. After thousands of shots, my anchor and grip are now more consistant than ever. I have it on my bow, but only look at it regularly if I' ve experimented with a part of my grip or my anchor. In the field, if it were covered with snow or rain, it would not prevent me from getting off a good shot.

RE: No Peep Question.
I tried a no-peep several years ago and the darn thing kept moving on me. I tightened the piss out of it too. Maybe the newer ones are better. I' m back to a peep until something better comes along.

RE: No Peep Question.
I had a Mathews FX. I used the Trophy Ridge sight and the No-Peep. I had no problems with either one. I just set the no peep up so it was below the sight.
I sold the bow because of the small sight window. My sight was right at the top of my sight window when I had it sighted in. I could see the pins fine but did not like the limtied view. The only complaint I had with the bow. Other than that I loved the bow. I also liked the no peep. Great for hunting right at daylight and dusk |
RE: No Peep Question.
I have had a no peep on for several years and although I have had to wipe it off on a few occasions in real dumping rain, it usually does not present much of a problem. I can see how freezing weather could cause a problem. I also live in western Washington and I am familiar with RAIN, but I love the no peep and will never go back. Sort of interested in the new version of no peep, but got everything on my bow shooting so sweet that I don' t want to touch anything.

RE: No Peep Question.
Well . . . my No Peep arrived today and after a few aprehensive moments I got it installed and I think I have the proper adjustments made. Hopefully I can do some shooting tomorrow to prove it. So far, I am impressed. I had to change the way my sight is installed and had to wiggle a bit but ultimate I have the dot where it is supposed to be. Unfortunately, I ran out of effective light and need to wait till tomorrow to do the test shootintg.
More later.:D |
RE: No Peep Question.
Dick,I have the FX and the older model no peep with the level attached to it.I had to modify the bracket by grinding for a little clearance.I had it in about every position I could put it in and finally took it off.I thought that it did its job alright but it always seemed to be in the wrong place and I was always messing with it.I couldn' t get comfortable and felt that it was a distraction. But that is just me,many seem to really like it,maybe I' ll give it another try.Ron

My mount is not level but it is adjusted and the dot is centered as it is supposed to be. I have not had the opportunity to shoot it yet. I know I' ll need to do some tweaking on my sights. Being farther out front from the bow should bring the sight up. Then removing the peep gained me from 5 to 9 fps in speed so it should shoot a little flatter (very little) then moving the sight out with the angle bracket. I think the greater speed should effect my sight pins where the rest will just move the whole sight block . . . So far though, I have had no problems with consistancy in drawing and sighting but the proof is in the shooting. I' ll let you know haw the shooting goes when I get to it. |
RE: No Peep Question.
I couldn' t get comfortable and felt that it was a distraction. So far it' s shooting great. I was shooting tight in almost total darkness the other night. Charlie |
RE: No Peep Question.
I shot mine for the first time today. It was cold and wet and my endurance was lacking. However I got it shooting close eniugh to where I was aiming to blow three nocks. This was at the recommended short distance. Next I need to get back to the 20 yard pin. It sure let me know when my form was on and off.

RE: No Peep Question.
Dick; What do you mean when you say" the recommended short distance" ?
I look forward to hearing the outcome of how it works for you on the longer shots etc. My question is ( even after reading the discription on the no peep website I really dont understand how it works). Do you align it to be on a vertical line with your sight pins ? Like this. : @ : = pins @ = NO PEEP |
RE: No Peep Question.
Lady Forge,
You can mount the NoPeep above or below your pins, whichever you' d like. Once you are at full draw, and at your proper anchor point, the NoPeep will appear as a dot within a circle. At that point, ignore the NoPeep, and just put your pin on the target and shoot. If your not on your anchor point, or if you' re torquing the bow, or if something else is wrong, the dot and circle will not be lined up, just as if you weren' t looking through your peep properly. The NoPeep just aligns your eye to the sight pin, as the peep sight does. It' s advantage is that it' s just as accurate as a small peep, but has more light transmission than the largest peep. I hope this explaination helps, perhaps someone else can word it a little better. Charlie |

I have a hard time remembering to bend my elbow slightly when shooting . . . the No Peep picked it up this error in form right away. It' s worth it to my way of thinking. |
RE: No Peep Question.
I got my no peep today just started tinkering with it i found that i can' t put it behind the riser cause the cable rod is to high so i had to put it out in front above the sight.

RE: No Peep Question.
;)Thanks for the info, I appreciate it!

RE: No Peep Question.
I had a problem with mine moving no matter what i did. I even scored the mounting bracket front and back with a center punch, still moved. I figured it might have been because i was using mounting bolts that may not have been long enough to get enough of the threads in the riser. I spoke with the maintence tech where i work, he suggested getting longer bolts from Lowe' s and applying this adhesive, that he gave me. The adhesive is made by PAI, It is called Industrial Power-Grip Instant Adhesive. Part#87490. Since doing this i' ve had no problems. Just make sure you have the no-peep where you want it and DO NOT get any in the threads, It' s a real monster to get the bracket back off. Its almost like welding it on. Love the no-peep

Thanks;)

RE: No Peep Question.
I will add the Limsavers accessory to my No Peep tht will help. But I installed mine with string wax and in the past that has performed well.

RE: No Peep Question.
I used a no peep on an fx for quite a while a couple of years ago and it was one of the sweetest set ups I' ve ever had; it produced my first robinhood. I wish I had never sold it
