What is the lightest arrow on the market?
 

In terms of grains/inch, what is the lightest arrow that I can shoot with a #73 draw weight and 30" draw length? Those details are very important, because if the arrow is not strong enough it will break. Who knew?

You need a arrow with a min weight of 365gr's.

But I would be more worried about the spine of the arrow than the weight.

I got my stabilizer at Bwana Archery, which is a pro shop in Saint Paul, MN. Unless you live near the twin cities, I don't think you can get it from them. I do both 3D and hunt.


Right now I am shooting Carbon Express Maxima 350 arrows (8.9gr/inch). I removed the red logo on the shaft and fletched 3 solid black 4" feathers on them and black nocks. I use 125gr field points and broadheads. I use Magnus Snuffer 125gr screw-in broadheads, which are also black. Hence my nick-name, "Black Stick."

I am just trying to get as close to a 365gr arrow as possible with out changing any of the above equipment except the shafts.

I am looking at SPEED PRO MAX S-HG (SUPER HIGH GRADE CARBON) arrows that I found on http://www.highcountryarchery.com/arrows.htm
but I don't know if they are strong enough for my set-up. Please tell me if they are.

Depending on your draw length, it looks like an arrow around 8.2 to 8.4 gpi is going to come in right around 365 grains if you use 100 gr. heads. The Easton Lightspeed 340's are 8.2 gpi. Might work.

My draw length is 30" and I like to shoot a 31" shaft. 365 was the target until I found SPEED PRO MAX S-HG (SUPER HIGH GRADE CARBON) on http://www.highcountryarchery.com/arrows.htm
They are 5.5 grains/inch, which would bring my total arrow weight to 305.5 grains. Still, I have no idea weather or not they are strong enough. Right now, that is the question. Are SPEED PRO MAX S-HG (SUPER HIGH GRADE CARBON) arrows strong enough?

It's not so much that the arrows aren't strong enough, it's that your bow's warranty is usually voided if you shoot arrows lighter than 5 grains per pound of draw weight - hence the 365 gr. minimum arrow weight. Shooting a super light arrow is almost like dry firing the bow. Not recommended

Those 5.5 gpi arrows would give me a total arrow weight of 305.5 grains. Sounds great! If I need a 365 grain arrow, could I increase the size of my broadhead from 125 grains to 170 or 185 grains? The 170 grain broadheads would get me to 350.5 total grains and the 185 grain broadheads would get me to 365.5 total grains, which is almost perfect. Would that fly?
