Spine for 200+gr. head.
 

I am wanting to build a high front of center arrow and was wondering if I would need to bump up to a 300 spine axis or stay at a 340?I am looking at using a 100 gr. BHw/ a 100 gr. brass insert.

I used a .300 spine with a similar arrow. My DL is 29", the bow was at 70#and I had the shaft at 30". The actual tip weight was 125gr broadhead with a 100gr brass insert. I also had a 200gr broadhead with a 22gr insert.

I would go to a 300 spine.

Thanks guys, I thought thats what I would need! Now I just have to decide on FMJ's or N-Fused axis'.

Tough choice. The N'Fused are a little lighter. I really like the way the Axis FMJ pull out of targets and penetrate, but they are more prone to bending when stuck in an animal than I would have thought. I guess those arrows need to be retired anyway . . . .

I never thought about the bending Roskoe, but with the aluminium shell it would be more prone to bending.

The FMJ 300's cut to a shaft lenght of 30" with 100gr insert and 125 gr head with 3 x 4" feathers and G nock should give you a FOC of 17.8% and be optium spine.
