Thunderheads at high speeds

I've heard in the past that once you got up over 285 fps with thunderheads you will have troubles controlling them. Is this true?

My old setups have never been an issue, but I've never shot over 265 fps. My new bow is significantly faster, probably in that 280-290 range and I was wondering if I am going to run into any issues, or if I just have to try it and see.

I'm going to use some thunderheads for turkeys and i wanted to see how they shot out of my 101 and they were dead on. My bow is shooting around 300 fps so you should be ok if your bow is tuned.

I've shot them at 292. Who knows how some have problems, or if there ever was.

Properly spined arrows, adequate FOC, and proper fletching you will have No problems shooting Thunderheads at those speeds.

I shoot the 100's on my back up bow at 290. There's no problem at all.
If your bow is only slightly out of tune , it will show up at those speeds though. A big head like a TH will magnify a problem.
They make a great tuning tool. LOL!!!

I never had good luck with them anyway so I quit using them and went to Muzzy 4 blade. Hit my mark every time.

IMHO, the issue that so many people have with thunderheads as opposed to other fixed blade heads of similar size/design is the o-ring that comes with them. When you screw them down, the o-ring does not always stay where it is supposed to, and can be compressed right out of the side of the head/insert interface. This can lead to alignment problems.

If your heads are spin tested, and spin true, they will perform just like any other head with a similar design.

I went on this crusade to get another broadhead. I got tired of the blades coming out on thunderheads. I tried mech's, tried montecs, and others, but I went back to thunderheads. I shoot 280fps out of my commander. They shoot just as well as others.
