Stabilizers

Posted a question in reply form on Bowhunting forum -" which stabilizer" ,but thought this forum might be a better place to get a technically sound answer.Question is,would using a piece of all thread you can pick up at the hardware store in 3ft. lengths in the correct thread size be a bad idea for any reasons you might know of.Would like to try a longer stabilizer for target shooting but dont really want to spend a lot of money on one for target shooting only.Could it damage bow,too much vibration, those types of things.Thanks.

RE: Stabilizers

I know guys who used to make them out of 3/4" PVC pipe, fill them with sand and clue PVC ends on them. on one end they drilled it & ran a threaded rod & held it in place with nuts & big fat wasers. Actually thy worked very well. After that rough them up a bit & paint them. Some guys even got really creative & put a smaller piece inside in the center & put the sand around it & then filled the center with lead shot & silicone caulking. Okie (don' t think they are still around) latter sold a model based on similar designs.

I have a older model x-ring that is 24" that I would sell for $30.00 plus $5.00 shipping. Its black and made of aluminum. Email me at [email protected]
