fletching problems
 

I recently purchased a Jo Jan arrow fletcher, I feel that I have adjusted it for proper alignment with my PSE Dominator 300' s, but I can' t get my vanes to stick. I leave them sit over night and come back and give them a slight tug and they start to tear off. What can I do to correct this problem? I' m using Bond-Tite glue and Bohning Fletch-Tite vanes.

One, you need to whipe the bottom of your vanes off with Acetone, and you also need to whipe the shaft down with acetone. Otherwise, you may be getting oil between the fletching and shaft. Also, you need to make sure there arent any air bubbles when you put the glue on, cause this will cause a week adherence. When you get a vane on, pull the arrow out and hold it up to the light to see if you can see underneath the vane. If light is shining through, then there not seated properly to the shaft and you need to adjust your jig.

I just started fletching my cx terminators and hunters last month. I first use steel wool on the shaft of the arrow where im going to place the vanes then i use rubbing alcohol to clean it. Then I place the arrow in the jig without touching the part i just cleaned. Then I use the alcohol on the part of the vane that adheres to the shaft. I havent had any problems with this combo. I use 5" bohing vanes with 4 degree helical. I beleive I use bond tite by bohing too( carbon arrow adhesive). hope this helps.

like the guys said before me, the alcohol has to be the 91% plus pure isopropyl...get that at the drug store. wipe the vanes and shaft. i wouldn' t personaly try the steel wool or scotch brite pad till all else fails, see if they have any info at the pse site on any suggestions.
