Need help with arrow weight??
I am kinda new to the bow hunting thing, well two years plus a few years in the sixties. Heres the problem I have been using XX Advantage 2514 arrows. My son bought me a dozen much thinner, forgot the #, Advantage arrows for Xmass. I traded them in a Dicks for the closest match they had. Used a chart that I didden' t fully understand. My new arrows are XX 75 Advantage 2413.
I am set at 63 lbs. Hard cam I think. Are the arrows safe ? Will they shoot about the same? I generally can get a group in a 6" circle at 20 yards, have a little vision problem that makes the peep blurry. Yuch How do I cut them? Thats what started this today a blizzard comming so I was going to set up the new arrows Once I cut them there is no chance of return so I wanted some advice first. RE: Need help with arrow weight??
The 2413' s will likely not shoot the same as the 2514' s. They should shoot better. The chart shows 2413' s is the proper spine arrow for your setup. The 2514' s are too stiff for it. Personally, I prefer the 2315' s in that spine range. They' re heavier, but a good bit more durable.

RE: Need help with arrow weight??
my question is why such a large diameter shaft? are you shooting 3d to cut lines?
or is the weight an issue the larger diameter will be stiffer and lighter, at that thou i would be looking at carbon shafts. i personly dont care for the larger dia. it makes a broad head look funny. and that thought what weight of point a hundred grain point will spine an arrow differnt then a 125....thoughts to ponder sorry for now real answers. auther p and the 2315 seems as good as shaft as any and there every where when you tend to run low... thanks |
RE: Need help with arrow weight??
Tobyn, The arrows are what the local bow store recommended. It a bow and arrow speciality place with a range and bow leagues. The Dicks arrows were a gift I didden' t want to go to the Bow place with.
Thanks to all for the help One Shot One Kill Striper Phil |
RE: Need help with arrow weight??
SORRY IF OFFENDED AND APOLOGIZE...
if they shoot alot of legue shooting it makes sense...but as hunting shaft i believe it abit large....i shoot as of now a 2314 and belive it abit large and researching for a good carbon arrow of about the same weight and tolerance. These forums are good things and we can express ourselves and we are all trying to better ourselves.... thanks |
