String help
Went to put my new awesome string and cablesby Giblet on today. Sometimes I dont even know why I bother trying to do things myself. Had everything all set, just needed another 1/4 inch to slip the string on. Since I'm using the "T" rings with a ratchet strap press, I go to get one more click smaller and the strap plate slips and everything stretches out. In the process damaging the serving on the string that goes around the cam. Sent Johna email, PM here, his box on AT is full so I couldn't PM him there. I'm pissed, they look so sweet too. Put the cables on since they didn't seem to be damaged, and the old string just so I could shoot it. Hopefully he can just re-serve the string, if not I'll just get a new one.
Thats it, just had to vent. Never would have happened if I just had a regular press. Penny wise, pound foolish. |
RE: String help
Hopefully John will take care of it for you. Sounds like you do things the way I do----the hard way. I know it's frustrating, but consider: "The person who never made a mistake just never did anything---nor accomplished anything worthwhile." I'll bet you do better the next time.

RE: String help
Yeah, it always seems like the hard way for me. I was just so psyched to get them on finally. Either way it is what it is. It was my fault so whatever John decides is the best course is fine.

RE: String help
Giblet will probably fix your problem.
Or, any good pro shop should be able to re-serve the string. |
RE: String help
Whare can you get a good regular press?
|
RE: String help
It shouldn't be an issue to just reserve your string.
Geronimo- check out ebay, Apple presses, Last Chance press or the X Press. All are favored by proshops. |
RE: String help
That omni press is pretty sweet, and for$145 tyd it's a pretty good deal. I'll be getting one of those eventually. While the "T" rings are good in a pinch, I'm not completely trusting of any ratchet strap anymore. The first attempt I had resulted in the strap separating where it is sewn into a loop. The second attempt resulted in the plate that goes against the teeth slipping, in the process letting out a few inches and damaging my new string. Damn strap was rated for like 1200lbs. too. What a joke. I might just take it back to sears and wrap it around someone's neck!
