Searching for a new rest.
 

I have been trying to figure out which rest I want to put on my new Ally when it comes in. I have it narrowed down to either the Limb Driver or the Ultra rest. I have a new Ultra rest hunter that was a pain to work withon my other bowbut I finally did get it right. I have heard so much good about the Limb Driver but Ialready havethe Ultra rest. My main concern is that I was told that the cord would have to attach to the hush kit slide on the Bowtechs rather than serve it onto the harness. I saw the small hole where that is to be attached and am a little concerned it may break at some time. Has anyone had any experiences with this?

Also, I have never seen where the cord attaches with the limb driver. Was only told it is to the limb. Having some trouble visualizing this one.

Any input is welcome.

The cord from the limb driver goes to the top limb.
When you come to full draw the limb dends down which loosens the cord thus raising the pick up arm.

Okay so does it attach with an clamp, or some kind of stick-on deal or what? Anyone have a pic?

There are two types of attachments available from Vapor Trail; one is a sort of "button" that slips between the forks in the upper limb @ the cam, the second is two aluminum (?) bars about 1/4" square with a machine screw which attaches the two pieces together (put one on top of the limb, the other goes opposite it, and the screw clamps them to the limb) also at the cam. There's a small hole drilled in the bottom piece.

Or, as an alternative, guys ignore the clamp and just use D-loop thread (and a D-loop knot) to tie off to the side of the limb (right hand side for right hand bows).

I have a limb driver on my ally with the button type that Bruce said. Works great and super easy to set up. I think you will be happy with it if it is the one you choose. Good luck in you decision.

The limb driver is awsome. Very easy to set up, you will not be disappointed!

You really can not go wrong with a Limb Driver. Easy to setup, Easy to tune, very consistent and no resulting clearance problems. In the pic you can see the attachment button that fits in the bottom of the limb yoke.

Okay guys now I understand. I was thinking that it hooked to the bottom of the top limb near the riser. This is an interesting concept indeed.

Ed, the difference in the Limb Driver is that the rest is spring-loaded "up", much like a regular prong-type rest; string tension pivots the rest downward towards the shelf (look at the far-right in Dan's picture). When you draw and the limbs are pulled inward, the LimbDriver string goes slack and the helical spring pops the rest up. It stays up throughout 80% of the shot, and only comes down when the upper limb is nearly back at it's original position and re-applies tension to the spring, pivoting the rest back down.
