RE: first cut exp experience!!!!
I tried them out last year and was not impressed. I was shooting #70 and shot two deer both at 10yd. On one shot the arrow stuck out the opposite side about 4in. and the other didn' t make it out the other side. They did however kill the deer within 200yd.

They are a decent head, but far from the best. The heads may be opening and then closing back as you pull the arrow out. This can happen. I found them to open quickly and they were reliable. I would rate them as middle of the road for a mechanical head.

RE: first cut exp experience!!!!
I have a friend that shot a deer last year with one. He shoots an Ultra2 at 29.5" ,goldtips, @ 70 # . He said he blew through the deer easily at 22 yrds, but he was disappointed with the entry and exit holes and said for a double lung hit he had a weak bloodtrail . I looked at his and I didn' t think they were very sharp out of the package.

RE: first cut exp experience!!!!
I don' t think killing two deer with them makes me an expert but at least it does give some experience to draw from. One bow was producing about 65 lbs of KE and I didn' t get what I would call a complete pass through from an 18 yard broadside shot although it did punch the tip through the far side. The buck went about 110 yards and fell over.
The second buck was quartering away at about 28 yards the arrow entered the right flank and blew completely through coming out the left side of the front part of the chest (different bow 70 lbs of KE). It left a huge wound channel and an awesome blood trail. The 200 lb buck went about 60 yards. I have never had a problem with them opening. If your judging them by the entrance hole in a target, depending on what material the target is made of, it can be very deceiving. |
