Whammy Rest & Arrow Draw....
 

Simple question for those of you who use the Spot Hogg Whammy rest for hunting.

What do you use on the rest prongs to keep your arrow quiet during draw? Spot Hogg site recommends nail polish, but says it has to be re-applied after 15 shots I've used shrink tube on old prong rests in the past, but what do you use?

You should be able to get some of the NAP teflon covers but I was thinking they had teflon covers from the factory NOW,so a call to them might get you a set of prongs.

New rest,100 buck,prong coversless than 10.The rest is already one of the best on the market,so yea,a new rest sounds about right.:eek:;)

Sorry coudnt help myself I had one and just didnt like it maybe I didnt give it enough time.I put those nap teflon prong implants on it put them in warm water and slid them on over the toatley diferent shaped prongs then they advertised when I ordered the rest on both the wammy site and catolog I bought it from.In my eyes if you reshape the prongs radicly it is a different rest.

I use the hunting version rest implant from AMG.
7.99 at Cabelas or I have found them for 4.99 at a couple of proshops. Very quiet and last a long time.

Hey Thanks!...question for you, how many shots do you run through your rest? You say they last a long time, however, I just took a look at the user reviews and some are saying they wear out quickly. Just checking to see if you're talking about they last a longtime shotwise, or chronoligically, with few shots ;)

Right now I have them on a Whammy and I would say that they have maybe 300 shots so far, and not much wear at all,but I had them on another rest and they lasted all year, 1000+. I shoot them and they wear in that spot then you can just give them a spin to a fresh spot for hunting.

I have never worn out the NAP teflon covers but really never shot them alot.BUT,they did not show ANY wear.


Right now I have a limbsaver rest,but that was because I got it for less than 20 bucks new and thought I would try it.I had a vital bow gear vital drop before thatbut wore it out after a couple years use.
