sighting in my new bow
i am going to get a new bow, sometime soon, now my bow i have now is only at 45# so i have to have a 10-20-30 ect. pin setup, with my new bow i am going to have a 50-60# so could i get away with a 20-30-40 pin setup? if this helps i am shooting easton epics with blazers and a 125 grain muzzy 3 blade.
thanks |
RE: sighting in my new bow
I think if I were you, I'd double check my arrows, going for something middle of the road as far as weight goes, and I'd bet a 125 grain BH add a little "whip" to your arrows if you are properly spined right now at 45#. As far as what to set your pins at, that's a matter of personal preference. I like a little tighter set-up, because it gives me a smaller margin of error if I misjudge distance. My setting for a 270-ish FPS bow are 24, 32, 40, 48, 56, with a 5 pin set up. That allows me the best options for hunting, leaving a few inches drop from one pin to the next, I can pull high 24 on a 30yd shot, and still take home some venison.

RE: sighting in my new bow
i didnt really understand what you meant about the broadheads. so you think i should try a 100 grain head?
|
RE: sighting in my new bow
Depends on the weight of the arrow, but if you are spined "right" for 45#, recommendations probably would lead you towards a 100gr, or even an 85 or 75gr. Try this site, and it will guide you a little: http://home.att.net/~sajackson/eastonchart.html . Also TFOX probably has better info, if he posts up, he may have better specific info. But heavier BH on lighter weaker spined arrows can tend to create a little arrow "whip" and result in some inconsistencies.

RE: sighting in my new bow
well even if this is the case, i am still getting a new bow, and probaly new arrows, and yes they are spined right, when i get my new bow it will be 50lb. will that still be too much for a 125 grain head?

RE: sighting in my new bow
Man sure is alot to digest, but I keep on reading what the group suggest to others! My 03 Bowtech at 60 shooting ICS 400 with 100 grain at 29"s must be good enough! since I can put 3 inside 3/4" @30 yards I'll call that good! This bunch keeps teaching if given enough info.Makes me think about putting the 70 lbs. limbs on the Diamond soon as I get in a groove with it and see how it handles 340's!

RE: sighting in my new bow
alrighty easton st epics, PSE nova, fred bear instinct or fred bear element, my DL is 24 and i think my arrows length is 25 or 24, poundage on the nova is 45 poundage on the new bow will be 50, the reason i said 60 is cause that will be the max lb. on it. and my release is a tru fire.
