Is 5.3 gr per pound too light for a hunting set up. What are the effects of shooting such light arrows on my equipment.
Right now I'm shooting 7.3gr per lbs. On Beman ICS hunters and was looking at shooting the victory shaft V3HV

Depnds on what you're hunting, where, how far you're shooting and what your personal preference is (speed vs. momentum/stability). Personally I go heavy (504 grains for 29") but I'm hunting big/dangerous critters in open country, no need for that on deer but it doesn't hurt, not to mention that it's easier on your equipment and makes for a quieter shot.

Thanx for the reply KodiakArcher. I hunt mostly whitetails although black bear is on the venue for the spring. I done a little research and found that I lose 2lbs of KE with the lighter arrows. But so far the pro's far outway the con's for me. What will happen to my set up...... what exactly is the lighter arrows hard on? I think I understand but can someone please explain?[X(]
For moose and elk I would use a heavier arrow.
