Thinking of buying a Hoyt Protec.....help wanted
I'm thinking about buying a 2001 Hoyt Protec. This bow has the command cams. I need some information. What are your experiences with this bow. How do the command cams perform? With its long axle to axle and 8+ inch brace height, I'm thinking this bow should be very accurate and forgiving. Is this the case? Thanks for any information.

RE: Thinking of buying a Hoyt Protec.....help wanted
I've got an '02 ProTec, LXPro limbs with Accuwheels. 60 pounds, shoots 580 grain 2315's in the 220's, with my draw length set at 33 1/2". It will shoot 470 grain carbons @ 245 fps. Command Cams would shoot a good bit faster, and I nearly got them, but I really wanted wheels. I shoot it fingers, barebow now, but had set it up with release and sights when I first got it. It is a VERY accurate and VERY forgiving bow.
My only complaint is the skinny little grip. I've got big hands and like having some meat in the handle. |

I shoot a 02 Protec LXPRO with accuwheels also. Arthur and I got them around the same time. Although I'm a little bit smaller thn Arthur I have a 27inch draw length. I shot 30inch XX75 2216s this last year I might try a lttle shorter arrow this year. AS far as forgiving this bow is and, accurate VERY. I shoot fingers and I was fortunate enough to take to whitetails this last season with my new bow. Good thing I had to show my wife some return on my investment. I find I can shoot longer distances with this bow than I could with any of my other bows. My second deer I took at 40 yds. I would probablly never attempted that shot with my other bows. As far as speed it ain't no barn burner but who cares. Missing fast is no feat. The protec will bring out the best in you accuracy. No matter what cam and limb configuration you choose you will be happy. If you do happen to shoot finger I suggest the LXPRO Accuwheel. Good Luck let us know what you get.

Update: I just bought a 2002 Pro Tec with the xt 2000 limbs and versa cam. The axle to axle is 40 inches. I currently shoot release, but I'm considering trying it with fingers. Do you think the versa cam and XT2000 limbs would be ok for fingers? Thanks
