help with limbs and draw weight
Can a bow that has 50lb - 60lb limbs actually have a heavier draw weight? Say 64? I ask because I have a bow that was supposed to have 50-60lb limbs, and at the pro shop the guy put it on the scale and told me it's 64lbs. The limb bolds don't seem to be tightened down all the way, there is about a 1/4-1/2 inch gap (between the limb and riser) where it looks like it could be tightened down farther. Bow is a truth, any info greatly appreciated. I'm thinking maybe it's a 60-70lb limb? Are those bolts supposed to tighen down all the way to the riser? |
RE: help with limbs and draw weight
It sounds like either the shop has a scale accuracy issue or the bow was fitted with 60/70 limbs. A 50/60 bow might max out at 62 or 63, but if there is still visible gap at 64 lbs. it is most likely not a 50/60.

RE: help with limbs and draw weight
Yes, those bolts should be able to tighten all the way to the riser. If you've still got 1/4 to 1/2", either the scale is off by 10 pounds or the limbs are.

RE: help with limbs and draw weight
On a rare occasion you might get a 60-70lbs set of limbs that max out around 76lbs maybe a hair more but like stated before if you have that much of a gap something isnt right. Id either get your own scale and check yourself or take it somewhere else and get another weight reading. If its the same then you most likely have the heavier limbs.

RE: help with limbs and draw weight
Isn't there a sticker on the bottom limbs? See what it says. I'd agree with what the other guys are saying. Either the scale is off or the limbs are 60-70 lb limbs. As for being able to go over the listed poundage. My Ally goes to 75 lbs and is 60/70 lb. However, that's with the bolt the whole way down.
