You'll likely pull about 2" less with a recurve. If you can shoot a 60# compound comfortably, you might consider buying a 50# recurve for your first one until your muscles develop.

I agree with AK, your draw will likely be from 1-2" shorter with a traditional bow. Best way to measure it is to get to a pro shop and have them measure you. For example, I shoot 33" draw with compound and shoot 30.5" draw with the longbow. This is mainly due to the anchoring points.

I also agree that if you are starting out, don't go overboard with the poundage. I would suggest a 45-50# pull. Talk to the guys over in the traditional forum if you need any tips or help. The guys over there are always wiling to help people getting started.
