Default Good Bow Press?

Been wanting to get a bow press for a while – so I can do more of my own work on my bows. Any suggestions on a decent bow press that won’t break the bank?

Have a Matthews Switchback and a Reflex Grizzley.

For the best value for your money, I would go with the Hydrapress. It's around $170 and I have heard nothing but great reviews on it. I do not have one personally since I work at a proshop and we use the Sure-loc X-press. Same basic design is used on the Hydrapress but alot cheaper. Sureloc costs around $500 vs. the Hydrapress around $170. If I was to buy one this would be the one I would get.

Hope this helps and Good luck.

I would highly recommend this press: http://www.huntingnet.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=2347251&mpage=1&key=bowmender%2c press&#2347251

It's not a bench-top model, but you were talking about not breaking the bank! It's the only press I own currently (though I'll probably be picking up a Last Chance EZ press next year), and I think just about all the guys on Bowtech's Corporate Staff own and use it frequently with high praise.

It'll save on space, and you can take it to your 3d shoots or to hunting camp with you behind the seat of your truck!

Here's Walks (the original maker of the press) demonstrating just how easy it is to use... http://media.putfile.com/Bow-Press-How-To

And to answer your question about bows, I'ved used it on Switchback XT's, Tributes, Allegiances, Constitutions... It'll press everything but Bowtech's new Center-Pivot bows.

I got a Limbbender press from David Stephens, who is on this board quite a bit. It was only $75, and works great for what I need: being able to change strings, peeps, etc. on personal bows.

I secondly HIGHLY recommend this press. Especially on a Switchback.
