Cable slide- what do you do?
 

I bought my Diamond Hornet used (3 months) from our local pro (it was his bow). He had installed a white pure teflon cable slide to replace the factory slide. He said he does so, as Pure teflon can only be white, therefore any slides that aren't white aren't pure teflon, and not as slick. Do any of you automatically replace the stock slide? If so, what do you use? If pure white teflon offers the advertised performance advantage of less drag so more speed, why don't manufacturers use it as a stock item to bump up the bows stated IBO?

On any bow I buy I always change to a teflon slide primarily because it is not prone to getting glazed which causes squeeking and chattering. Teflon slides are available in black but whatever is used to color them does not seem to change the slick quality of the slide. I have never seen any real speed difference in bows above 50# but lesser weight bows seem to benefit more from small friction changes simply because they have less force to overcome the drag. The manufacturers only see the additional cost of teflon slides. Look at how many years of begging and complaining it took to get braided center serving on new bows. To them its all about the pennies.

One of the first things I do to a new bow is put on a teflon slide. As stated, it helps with squeeking when the cable guard is wet, in the rain, and it is just easier on the string/cable.

A stainless steel cable guard also helps with noise reduction....but I also use a teflon slide.
