Matthews speed?

I'm kicking around the idea of buying a Matthews Legacy. I was wondering if there is any truth to Matthews not getting speed with shorter draw lengths? I'm not a speed freak as long as I can shoot between 260-265 I'm happy. I have a 26.5-27 inch draw and pull seventy pounds. I am currently shooting a 37" Parker with a 65% letoff at 70lbs and get the speed I'm looking for. Any advice?

There won't be much difference in the Parker or Legacy if the brace height is close. Without knowing your arrow weight it's hard to give you any figures. With my Legacy at 29.5" & 64 lbs. I'm getting 285 through my chronograph with a 358 grain arrow. With your draw length you'll lose 18-22 feet per second, but you'll gain 12 feet going to 70 pounds. So now we're at 275 or so, for every 5 grains over 358 you'll lose another foot. You should be able to get 260 or close and still shoot a 435 grain arrow. Now before buying one it might be best to go shoot it through a chrono, just to see if I'm close.

I shot last bow season Legacy. It was a very good bow season for me. It shoots 390 grain arrow at 68 pounds and 30 inches draw lenght 282 fps. I think you should get with lighter arrow and your draw length to be at 275 fps.
I just bought Hoyt's UltraTech Cam 1/2.This bow with the same specs shoots about 10 pfs faster than my Legacy.
This means with the same set up like Legacy, my arrow's speed is 293 pfs from Hoyt.
Finally, I can get more than 70 pounds of KE.

I have a friend with a Q2 set up for hunting @ 27" 70# shooting a 340 grain arrow 275fps (Q2 & Legacy both IBO @ 308 FPS) . Have you seen the new Mathews LX or checked out any Bowtech's ?

BIGAMENY, I talked to quite a few short draw archers shooting 3D last summer (allot of women especially) that were considering (some already had) odering a Patriot or BKII to get the speed they wanted. Also check out the 2003 VFT. I can't say there is anything wrong with the Legacy. People that have them seem to like them. All things being equal, the BowTechs will generally be faster.
