Draw cycle on Guardian

Is the draw cycle on the Guardian smoother than the Partiot/Extreme VFT?

I loved the speed of my Extreme VFT, but it felt like I was holding back a ton.

Is the Guardian comparable to this?

To me Draw cycle and Valley are largely what you get used to. I Love the Draw and Feel of the Guardian. It is an Absolute Pleasure to shoot:D

Best way to know is go to a dealer and shoot one. I really didn't care for it much, wasn't sure it would EVER break over, but I was shooting a 30" bow because that was what the dealer had. I thought it felt pretty nice on the shot, and the handshock was pretty minimal (actually the Reflex Ridgleline34 was the best feeling bow I shot when I shot a bunch of the 2007's, but that's another story altogether. I really didn't care much for the Vectrix either, but the Trykon XL that I bought (used) felt quite nice. Shoot as many bows as you can, and objectively decide what fits you best as far as draw cycle, handshock, bow-weight, grip, etc. There many variables that you have to PERSONALLY feel to determine whether a certain bow is a good "fit" for you or not. And no disrespect to Dan, but would you expect a BowTech Corporate Staff member to say anythingnegative about his company's product??? I would agree w/ him though, if you had a bow like that, the draw cycle would be something you had to get used to, esp. if you didn't like it to begin with.

I like the draw on the guardian. it's not as smooth as say a switchback but it for sure makes up for it in every other area. But dont let it creep...this thing wants to GO!

First if you did not shoot the bow in your Draw length then you did not give it a fair shake. 1st one I shot was 2" long for me and I did not like the Draw cycle at all, but once I got it in my Draw length it was a different ball game.

Second, If I don't like a product I'll tell you. I am on Corporate staff because I have shot and Loved their bows since 03, not because they offered me discounted equipment to come over (from another company)and shoot their bows and hype their products. Like so many do;)Second Draw is something you get accustomed to. They are all slightly different, and familiarity feels good. I don't like all the Bows that Bowtech has made, but they have always made a Bow in the last several years that has impressed me and fit me to a T. The Guardian is the first bow in the last 3 years that has made it to a Tree Stand with me besides the Allegiance. That should tell you how I really feel about the bow:D

The General is quite a shooter too. I took it to the local shop about a week ago and guys were shooting both the Marquis and the General. While I was there the shop owner took orders for one Marquis and three Generals. I never Hyped the Bows I just let guys shoot them. They sell themselves!! Hype not necessary. One thing I Admire about Bowtech is that they keep raising the bar and pushing the envelope instead of sitting on their laurels;)

To be honest, the Extreme VFT's draw cycle and the Guardian's (or ANY binary-cam model's, for that matter) are going to feel COMPLETELY different... It's the difference between a single-cam model and the binaries.

To me -- personally -- I've always felt that single-cam bows were "smoother" due to the fact that they ramped up slower and "eased" into the draw cycle. But remember, I shot Mathews for six years before finding a home with Bowtech. I actually disliked the first binaries I shot way back when, but -- as MeanV pointed out -- I adjusted fairly quickly and actually came to love the draw force curve they exhibited.

As far as what you're "holding back"... that's largely a function of let-off, and perhaps how you've got the valley tuned. (Narrow valley, and you'd better be pulling against the wall and using good form...). The great thing about Bowtechs to that end is the adjustable draw stop post, which allows minor tweaking of your valley to find what's comfortable for you.

I'll agree with Greg/MO.

The two draw are different. Both can be gotten used to, but if you go and shoot one today I'll bet you "feel "the infinity cammed bow is "smoother" over all than the Guardians draw. (I shot a Guardian for the second time last week).

If you want a similar draw ofyour solowith a binary you will need to go with smooth mods (Tribute/ Allegiance) with a draw weight less than what you had.

I dropped 4#, shoot a smooth mod and the draw between the two (Patriot & tribute) feel very close to the same (I sometimes have to look to see which bow I'm shooting). BTW, they produce the same amount of KE- so dropping the weight won't hurt you much if you are happy with the energy you are currently shooting.
