Anchor Points How do they look?

Hey everyone,

Like the title states how do my anchor points look. I am new to archery and I hear a lot of talk about anchor points and making sure that you repeat the anchor point placement from shot to shot. As I shoot my bow I feel like they are being repeated in a consistant manner. Just want some opinions and suggestions from what you see.

If you can consistantly repeat them, then they will probably work, but your release is too long. You are reaching for the trigger, it should be resting about halfway up your index finger so you can squeeze it better and resist punching.

Joshkeller,

The actual trigger is about 1/2 to 3/4 inch behind the tip of my finger(about right at my first nuckle joint. I was keeping my finger straight for safety(finger off trigger until ready to shoot). If you still think it is to long then I will try and shorten it some. But it does feel fine to me.

I personally like to squeeze the trigger with the main joint int he indext finger. Not the knuckle, but the next one out.

Joshkeller,

I think I may have used the wrong terminalogy. It is not the nuckle but the joint right behind the tip of my finger. I think some of my military and long range shooting are already starting to show their head in archery. I squeeze the trigger on all firearms with the first pad of my finger and I guess this is coming over from my training into archery. So that is how I guess I am pulling the release trigger with the first pad of the index finger just like rifle and handgun shooting.

This is how my anchor used to look. Upon the advice of a proficient 3D shooter, I want to the shortestD loop possible and to a Short 'N Sweet release to get my anchor point more forward. It helped.

shott8283,

I was a combat arms training and maintenance specialist in the air force reserve. So all I did was teach and shoot , teach and shoot. Talk about an awesome job, shoot all day and get paid for it. got to love that.
