String wax question
 

How often should you wax your string? Also, while we're on the subject of strings, how often should you replace your string? Thanks.

I wax every 100 arrows or so... I replaced my string three times this year. Normally I do it two times a year. I also shoot a lot. Gibblet can attest to that :D , I just want to be his favorite customer.:D.. He does make an awesome string. Sometimes I just want a new color. :D

For the average hunter/shooter your string should last about 2 years..............I wax mine about every 100 shots or more often if hunting in adverse conditions (rain or snow).

About 2 years is good for most anyone for string replacement.


As far as wax is concerned,don't overwax to the point you get build up.


Also,don't use cheap tex tite type wax.Make sure it is a quality wax that will rub in with ease.


I wax my hunting strings much more often thanI would wax a competition string.

IMO, once a month for most is more than enough. Too much for many.

I agree with the 100 shot rule as thats what I do ,Well try to anyhow.

I've wondered this myself since I've never waxed a string. This will be the third year with my current bow. Since its already half way though the season maybe I'll just replace it next year. Is there any sense of waxing it now? Does wax effect the shooting at all? I will need to re sight it in anyway, since I am actually making up some new arrows this weekend. Do you wax just the string part you pull back or all the other strings too? Do you have to take the string off to wax it were it normally rolls around the cams or do you just wax what you can get to when its on the bow? Sorry for the dumb questions.... Like I;ve said, I've never waxed before.
