Halographic sight

Anybody use that halographic sight Cabela's carries? My hunting buddy, (kind of a city kid)keeps wanting to get one. I'm kinda old fashion I'm telling him I think its a waste of money, but I guess I honestly don't know, never used one. Come guys who's right me or him?

I have personally never bought one, but I have tried them out and I can honestly say I don't like them. Any movement at all will trow the dot all over the place. Another guy I know wasted his 600 dollars on one. And he hates it. But it may be different for other people I guess your friend should try it and see for himself.

Tell him not to get it, it is not worth the money. There are better sights out there than this one. We had a thread a while ago about red dot scopes that was quite lengthy. Do a search for it and read the responses. I have a red dot scope with the same mount from cabela's and it isn't all that great. You have to change your anchor point as you increase your yardage.

RE: Halographic sight

I have installed them and tried them and to me they have three major drawbacks.
1)They distract you from focusing on the target. The sight should be as simple and non-busy as possible otherwise your focusing your attention on the sight and not concentrating on the target. I saw these sights turn some good shooters into trigger punching fools because they couldnt get the rings to stay completely still. They were not moving any more than they ever had but the sight made them think they were.
2)It required a lot of set up time and each different bow had its own set of problems especially those with short sight windows. sometimes it required people to change their anchor point which I did not like. The sight should adapt to you not vice-versa.
3)Say goodbye to simple quick sight adjustments. Elevation is not bad on some mounts but windage adjustments can be a real headache. Also is more prone to damage in the field.
All in all it just over complicates such a simple job. Tell him to save his money.

I have 4 Holos, 2 on my bows, 1 on shotgun and one on black powder Encore. I would not trade them for anything. I have killed bear, deer, antalope, hog,all with the holo on my bow. I have used them for 6 years now and I think they are great. If you have any questions IM me. [email protected]
