'03 Black Knight !!!

Why is no one talking about this bow? I just got mine today and really like this bow. I have been shooting my '03 Patriot for about a week now, the draw cycle on the Black Knight is the same. It is very smooth when maxed out at 60#. The Patriot is smooth to me at 60#, but feels a little stiff at 70#.

This bow's birth certificate says 322 (60# @ 28", 300 grain arrow) which I will check out tomorrow. My Patriot was faster than its birth certificate stated, and this bow is clearly faster than the Pat. The Black Knight is more comfortable for me to shoot beacause it measures only 1/2" over AMO at 28 1/2". The Patriot actually measures a full 1" over AMO at 29". I need the 27 1/2" module for my Patriot to adjust it down to my draw length.

The brace height is measured at 6 15/16" which seems like plenty. I may twist up the cables to add some weight and try to get a brace height of 7". The Patriot may be slightly deader in the hand, but I have already added some Sims products to the Patriot, so I am no longer comparing apples to apples. The Bowtech Hush products are pretty lame. The felt difference is not much right now.

I am strongly considering swapping my 70# Patriot for a 70# Black Knight, I like this bow that much.

I have been waiting for one to come in. How are you measuring the 28" draw? What did the bow go for? Did it come with the cable adjusters?
Please shoot the following arrow weights if you can on the maxed bow: 375 grains and 400 grains.
How well does the bow balance and is it quiet with the added SIMS products on?
Thanks

jrb, is the BK DC subject to torque easily? I cant wait to shoot these bows!<img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle>

RE: '03 Black Knight !!!

Muz,

I am measuring to the deepest part of the grip plus 1.75&quot;. I am going to shoot a few arrow weights through it when it warms up outside. I have some 3-49 ACCs that weigh 388 made up to shoot that are close to what you are asking. No cable adjusters, I am not sure what Bowtech is planning, since part of the reason I ordered these bows was because of the cable adjusters. I have no Sims products on the BK. The DC Pat was certainly louder than my '02 Pat when it first arrived. It is much quieter now with Sims products. I expext them to do the same for the BK.

Jerry,

I have not shot it enough to say for sure, but I don't think so. It has the same grip as the DC Patriot and really does not feel any different, except this one is right on my draw length and is much more easy to settle against the wall. I do not know why it would be any more prone to torque than the say the Cybertec (brace 6 5/8&quot;), Razortec (brace 7 1/4&quot;) or Legacy/LX (brace 6&quot; something).

Really jrb? I shot the Razortec and I didn't feel as tho I had any torque but I didnt have the bow decked out to my liking either. Well, your post reaffirmed my decision to test shoot the BK ! Now to just find some with them on hand, grrrrrrrr<img src=icon_smile_angry.gif border=0 align=middle>Best of luck with your new baby <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

Here are some speeds from my new tall brace height BK:

Bow maxes @ 61.5# at measured 28.5&quot; AMO (on my scales), the factory specs were 61.2# @ 28&quot; (322 fps with 300 grain arrow)

334 grain arrow = 303 fps

382 grain arrow = 285 fps

432 grain arrow = 271 fps

526 grain arrow = 247 fps

At the lighter arrow weights, I was picking up 1 fps for every drop in arrow weight of 3 grains. To get the arrow down to 300 grains for IBO, I would expect about 11 extra fps which gets me to 314. This is 8 fps less than the birth certificate, but I have a string loop and peep on the string.

When I shot it at 60# along side my DC Patriot turned down to 60#, the BK averaged 6 (heavier) - 8 (lighter arrow weight) fps faster with similar arrows. The Patriot has an extra 1/2&quot; of draw length going for it.

FWIW, I rechecked my dually Patriot on another scale and was able to get it to max out at 71.5#. It shot 355 grain arrows at 308 with string loop and peep. That is pretty close to its birth certificate of 312 with 350 grain arrows.

RE: '03 Black Knight !!!

Could you please post the specs of the new BK2 ? Is it still on the 37.5 2002 Pro Riser, or is it shorter now?
Thanks,
DL

RE: '03 Black Knight !!!

DL,

It must be a different riser. Here are the specs copied from their web site:

Tall Specs: Brace Height: 6.75”; Draw Length: 25”-30”; Draw Weight: 50-60-70; Axle to Axle: 36”; Mass Weight: 3.95 lbs; IBO Speed: 342-350 fps
