The best way to tie serving.

I recently bought a STS and now I need to serve the string where the stopper is going to make contact. There is so many ways to do it, but I want to know the best way to tie serving.

The "Finishing the Serving" section is a bit hard to figure out from the diagrams but once you play with it a bit I think you'll get it.

This method also works but I find that it's hard to get as much tension on the finishing wraps as the first method:

Here's pretty much the standard method.

The best investment I think I've made when it comes to things like this was to buy the Bohning serving kit, which included an instructional DVD and everything you need to do any and all future servings. I know right now you're just looking to serve an inch-long or maybe two-inch long spot on your string, but you'll have it for all future needs. I saw it again in the Cabela's catalog for $34.99 today.

Greg,

Those kits are well worth the money. Maybe a sticky on serving and how to tie it in needs to be added. it seems as if this comes up an aweful lot on here.
