A question for those who tinker
 

I have a TM Hunter rest on my new bow, I really like it, but I am one of those nervous netties who worries about the arrow dropping off the rest. Has anyone here ever tried anything of thier own making to modify a rest of this sort? What did you do and did it work the way you thought it would.

I have a couple of ideas going through my thick little skull and just want to see if anyone here has tried any that worked.

I had to bumb this just once, I can not beleive that no one here has tried something on thier own to improve a product. I won't bump it again if I get no replies.

I haven't seen anything or heard of anything. I use a Martin Speed Rest with a stay put arrow holder which wirks exceedingly well. On my Ultratec iI have a Nap 3000 and my dealer has a arrow holder also made by stay put than works fine.If you come up with a simple quiet and repeatable arrow holder please share. Thanks.

Hey Taz,
I tinker a little, But you don't need to in this case. A couple of different companies make an "arrow lock" type thingamabob that holds it on a TM style rest. NAP makes one and Carolina Archery makes one as well. I had one on my Champion with a GKF premier and It rocked! I never had an arrow fall off and could walk throught the woods doing somersaults and the arrow would be there every time.

I shoot the Muzzy Zero Effect rest on a couple of my bows. It all but eliminates the problem in stalking situations. Short of turning the bow past 90 degrees or beyond the horizontal the arrow will be there when the bow is drawn.

The best arrow holder that I have seen is from Dakota Archery Products. You can see them here http://www.dakotaarchery.com/arrowholders/index.html It is kind of difficult to picture but this holder mounts to the bottom of the rest and the rubber tubbing goes up and over the arrow. When you pull back far enough the tubing comes off and out of the way.

Trushot_archer which one did you use, I looked at the one link and it looks good.

silentassassin I liked the one you gave the link for also, it appears to install easier than the one Trushot_archer linked me to, but installation does not mean everything. Did you use this one and how did you like it?

I used the Fast flip on top of a GKF premier. The flipper backed out on the draw and flipped up. My buddy tried the Dakota one and while it held the arrow in place at rest, it would knock it off the rest onthe draw. He may have put it on wrong though, Incidentally, I would have to agree with FLhunter though. If you have the $ try the Muzzy. You can't turn it upside down, but I couldn't believe the difference it made in my shooting right off the bat. I got a new bow last week and used the NAP 1000 at first(muzzy was out of stock) and could not get a pattern. Inside of 15 minutes after the muzzy was installed I was knocking nocks @ 20 and Robin Hooded 1 on the 3rd time around. Good luck!

Have you ever tried the teflon hunting launchers. You can mount them so that they cradle the arrow. I used to use launchers like them and was always pretty confident that the arrow wouldn't slide off. You can use these launchers on the TM rest. They are listed as universal hunting launchers on the savage site:
