Invisible Arrows?
 

I was told that it is an unspoken rule that you should not shoot black nocks. I shot at the world this past year and one of the guys I shot with had 3 black fletches and a black nock. Needless to say you could not see his arrow in the target. I did not see this as a problem but others do. What’s your opinion?

I can see where some people will have a problem with not seeing his arrows but that is only because they cant aim at them if he is in the center ring.<img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Shooting at targets I don't think that it would make any difference what so ever. Shooting at animals though I like to have white fletchings, dip, and nock. It helps to see where the arrow goes and also helps in determining if you made a good hit or not, if you didn't see where the arrow hit, by the color of blood on the white vanes. It's alot easier to see blood on white than on brown or black.

A lot of guys used to do this just for that reason. Now it's looked at as kind of an unspoken rule. Most shooters won't comment on it, but most don't do it and don't like it. Personally a &quot;nice shot&quot; comment from another shooter is worth more than hiding my arrow, unless of course it's a bad shot then I want to hide it.<img src=icon_smile_blush.gif border=0 align=middle>

I'm with JDoyle. I've shot open with guys shooting hunter that would bust my nock or rip my vanes every time I would shoot first and make a good shot. I started carrying a couple of &quot;stealth&quot; arrows after that <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>.

If I knew that shooting black arrows would tick people off that bad, then I would ALWAYS shoot black arrows in competition. If they're that danged worried about what color my nocks and feathers are, then they aren't going to be concentrating on their game. Lack of concentration on their part is an advantage to me, and I've been known to engage in psychological warfare on the lanes. It used to be called 'gamesmanship.'<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

If it's that blamed important, then why don't they get that 'unspoken rule' written into the rule book?
