Well,I have heard a lot of talk about the new hoyts and the cam & 1/2 but nothing said about the Spiral Cam & 1/2. Whats up with that?

You would really have to be a speed freak to like the Spiral.It is a very radical cam.The draw curve keeps you at peak draw weight for almost 5" and there is almost no valley.At least this is my experience with it and seems to be what most are saying.Not that it is a bad cam but it is radical.

It is what I call a "hot" cam! That's how my shoulder felt after drawing it! I do prefer this to the normal cam.5 only because the wall is much more solid...which is necessary due to the short valley to prevent arm socket replacement on the creep.They are quicker though, so in my case, I'd drop the poundage a little, get the same speed and add a solid wall. I could get used to the draw.

I couldn't tell you, I tried to draw one of the Supertec's back and could not break the cams over! These must be some aggressive cams, I can normally draw a 29 inch bow at 70 lbs. I wouldn't want to shoot one for any amount of time, but I can normally draw them back without losing a testical. This one would not budge.

I honestly don't think the regular cam and a half draws as nice as the versa cam did. That's how it feels to me any way. I think if I decide to get a target bow I will just stick with Darton and get a Vegas with the CPS short draw cam. The only thing I have found that comes close to it is round wheels. Of course it is no barn burner either.

Well all I here is how hard it is to draw>>.. Speed freak ( me ),,, maybe.. I like to have a little speed behind me at the shoots ( dont you ? ) Hey Paul eat some Wheaties.. lol I like the wall they have. If you take out the stop it has a little softer wall.. about 68% at that point, and still a very solid wall. That will increase your draw ,by about 1/8-1/4 of an inch. It may take a little stiffer arrow to get a great paper tear, but as you know and I will ge told on this forum.. paper is not everything...I think that comes from people that cant paper tune correctly... Oh boy look what I just started..lol.. I set my Ultratec up at 63# 29" draw 325 grain arrow and got 301 fps out of it.. I am very happy with that. My son ( Bob ) set the same type bow up for indoors.. ( yes indoors ) He shot it for the first time in our indoor state quilifier (here in Ohio), He had it for one DAY.. 300-58x at 60#'s that bow is as accurate as it is fast..

Yes,the spiral is accurate but very harsh.I didn't mean speed freak in a bad way <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>.

I have seen some say the Cam 1/2 doesn't have a solid wall but I really can't see why.It does have a valley,which I love.I love that I had a new string put on it and had it tuned on a Hooter Shooter.Shooting at 15 yards at the wall and letting up 3/8&quot; and still hitting the same hole.

Creep tuning without the hassle.Got to love that.

I would tend to agree with Fletcher. It definitely is a harsh drawing cam but if the draw stop is removed then it offers a very respectable valley and a reasonably hard back wall. It also lengthens the draw length by approximately 1/2 of an inch. With this configuration I found it to be very shootable.

As for which is harsher to draw the Patriot DC or the Spiral....I will let you know shortly...<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

Great info guys, I did notice that the cam was a bear at 70# but the lack of a valley was the winning option for me. I just started shooting last year and started at 70# then went to 65#, this year I will be shooting 60# so the 65% let off will be fine at the draw weight. I put a lot of money in to a CyberTec last year changing cam idler and string and hours of tuning and it still never felt quit right.

I went to the shop and he had a 2003 UltraTec with Cam ˝ and it felt better but then I shot a SuperTec with the spiral cam ˝, even though it was 70# I like the way the cam broke over and the weight reduced smoothly, “the Versa Cam 2 on the CyberTec seemed to drop off the face of the earth”. At full draw the SuperTec felt comfortable and didn’t feel like the bow was going to rip my arm off if I crept a little. So I ordered a 2003 UltraTec Flame with spiral cam ˝ and 60# limbs. I am predicting 290’s at 28” draw for this new bow. Delivery is my only trouble now, at first it was going to be in second week of February now he is saying more like first week of March.
