Muzzy Tuning

I have a Drenaline and Muzzy MX-4 100gr broadheads. I am shooting Easton Axis 400's with a wisker biscuit deluxe. I have tuned it fieldpoints and shooting bullet holes at 20 yards. WhenI applied the broadheadsI am shootinginconsistent. Ihave oriented the broadheads all the same. Did notknow if someone might have some additional insite to help.

Are the broadheads grouping poorly or do they just hit to a different point of impact?

Different points of impact. sometimes low left then sometimes high left, then dead center. I am at a loss.

Some setups just don't shoot certain broadheads well, even from a bow that is tuned. You might try the G5 Montec or the Slick Trick. They seem to "fly like field points" out of more bows than the Muzzy. Hunting season is almost upon us . . . . not a good time to be working out problems with the setup.

Are you shooting bullet holes on paper at six feet? 20 yards doesn't tell you a whole lot, unless the arrow is a bare shaft.

Are the muzzys new or have they been shot a bunch? The blades tend to bend or the ferrules bend, either one results in a wobbly arrow.

Even though you tuned your bow with field tips, sometimes it takes just a tad bit of adjustment to get broadheads to fly perfect. If your grouping well and have good arrow flight then you can just adjust your sights to your broadheads. If your getting incosistent groups, it could be you or your fletches might not be doing there job to steer the arrow. What kind of vanes are you shooting? There is a multitude of things that it could be. Just try and tweek it a bit and if that doesnt work try a different head like someone suggested earlier.

You are shooting 400 spine Axis arrows. What draw wt. is your Dren? If #70, the arrows are probably underspined.

Other things to look for would be broadheads not spinning true, or fletching without offset or helical

IME, Slick Tricks are more likely to give you field point flight and accuracy than Muzzys, especially with a slightly out of tune bow. Muzzys can certainly be tuned to shoot well too.

Want a tip from a Muzzy Pro Staffer? Ditch the MX-4s and get yourself some MX'3s. ;)

i have heard that about the mx 3's too, i am gonna try them out for next season. but i think it might be that the inserts are not in right do the arrows wobble at all with the broadheads in em?

Nobody answered Pa's question. If the arrows are underspined then it doesn't matter what broadhead you use. The results are going to be similar. Need to know the bow weight, draw length, and arrow length to be able to make a decent appraisal.

And then throw the paper tuning out the window and get to braodhead tuning. As you can see, paper tuning shows you how the arrow is leaving the bow, but does not show what the arrow is doing down range.

I shoot a 69#drenalin with 400 excel Eastons with MX3 Muzzy and they tune just fine out to 40 yards and cut deep.
