pendulum sight

was in the market for a pendulum sight and looking to see what others use and like. any suggestions. I used to have an old keller sight but didn't like it b/c it was too noisy. I hope the newer sights are quieter.

I just bought this sight and put it on my bow.I don't think theres any other pendulum bow sight that is as good as this one.I can shoot out to 40 yards with no drop.I have the one with adjustable bracket.

thanks looking at them now. keep the feedback coming on those pendulums please.

Yea I like the Savage also.I chose the truglo because of the adjustable bracket.Im planning on hunting out of a ground blind some.I don't like the trophy ridge mantis.I could get but 28 yards with it.I would be using a keller if it wasn't so loud.

I shoot a cobra pend. , slide combo sight.I can set it for gound hunting and use it as a slide sight or unlock it and hunt from a treestand all without re-sighting.It has a great fiber optic pin and does not make any noise.Killed two deer with it last year,in fact they were the only two I shot at last year.It is good out to around 30yds depending on your bow.

treboryerf what type of speed are you getting out of your bow.Just comparing mine's shooting 303 and mines getting 40 yards

RE: pendulum sight

what model savage are you using? I will take a look at them too. I cannot find a slide pendulum combo on the savage website.

I noticed you have a keller.Have you tried to tighten the two small flat tip screws on the side it should make it a little more quiet

I have the Vital Bow Gear Camelback pendulum sight. It's a nice sight and I like it, but it does shimmy, shake, and rattle, a little bit - even in lock mode. :(

I have it set for 25 yards, flat level ground. Then I measured it/experimented/tested it out, and I'm dead on accurate from 5 yards to just barely 30 yards, (like maybe 27 +/- ).

Would I buy a pendulum sight again? Well, um, after raving about it last season, and then really studying it against other single pin sights, I would honestly say NO. :(

RE: pendulum sight

I sold my keller long ago and tried the pin sights but still liked the pendulums. I saw a pendulum called the predator. did a search and found good things said about it. does anyone have any comments or used that sight. so far I think the tru glo may be the best of the mentioned sights. I have looked at the vital bow gear also but not seen much feedback. thanks guys.

I can honestly say I have only shot 1 deer from the ground and it waswhen I had a crossbow and had just got into hunting. every other deer has been from the trees. thats the main reason for going back to a pendulum. I never missed with it. I have missed several deer with the fixed pins though LOL.

I have a cousin that uses a predator sight. He has been using it for a while.I didnt like it because it was only a treestand sight. But it has good distance I think he was getting about 40 yards

impact archery makes a pendulm that you can lock down and use its slide feature to shoot from the ground. Mine works great for both. With my 400gr arrow flying a sluggish mid 270s using the slidefeature I have a 60 yardwindow (20yds to 80yds). This make it great for 3ds.

I bought a Tru glo pendulum on ebay for about 33.00. After setting it up and testing it out, it works pretty well. My max dead on range is about 36-38 yards. At 40, if I aim near the top of the vitals, it hits close enough to get the job done. (basically drops about 3").

As far as how quiet it was......my dad was standing under my treestand about 20 feet under me and said that the arrow striking the target 30 yards away was louder than the bow going off.

Grasshopper;
That was good price you got on that pendulum... most sell it for around $54.00.
I played with the Tru Glo Pendulum as well.
I sighted it in on the ground at 20 yards and then shot it from an elevated position at 35 yards, and found it to be dead on accurate, very easy to setup and switches from fixed pin sight to a pendulum sight with just the turn of a knob.. I was shooting a 1 inch group at 35 yards with it.
If I recall correctly the sight packaging says the pendulum it is on out to 35 yards.
I did find that if you are shooting a slower bow for example in the 240's fps the pendulum will not work out at 35 yards... at 35 yards with the slower bow the arrows were impacting at the knee level of a whitetail when I was aiming at the heart... but they were a tight little group;)

Hi ladyforge

I was wondering about something. Did you allow the pendulum to swing free when you sighted it in on the ground, or did you have it fixed?
I'm still tinkering with mine and wondered if one or the other ways would gain a little more max range?

i have owned a predator, cobra, and now have a trophy ridge. they all work well but the trophy ridge is a little more durable and when locked down it is solid. but just about any pendulum on the market is gonna do what theyre supposed to do its just a personal preference of what you want.

RE: pendulum sight

With a 500r arrow I'm shooting 260fps sighted in at ground level dead on at 25yds. I would have to see you shoot out to 40yds with no drop, I bet you are 3" high at 25yds and even higher at 15-20yds.

RE: pendulum sight

Im shooting a gold tip 7595 its 400 grains. My bow is shooting 304 fps.At 20yrds in shooting about 1 1/2 inches high, and at 40 yars its hitting at the bottom of a block 4x4 diamond.I think its about 1 1/2 low.I havent tried it right under my tree yet. When I get home from offshore next week I will shoot it more and let you know.

That is a 1 1/2 high at 20yards forgot to put the distance in.

do ya'll have the tru glo that you can lock down and use the slider bar? that is the one I was going to give a whirl. I have not looked at the trophy ridge yet. I like the tritium pins b/c no halo effect when shooting in extreme low light. I have shot several deer right at dark and tried using the lighted pins but get to much glow from them. the tritium pins are awesome to use IMO.

Grasshopper;
This is the pic of the Tru Glo Pendullum that I tested .
I sighted in on ground level with the sight locked in the fixed position setting.
I only allowed the pendulum to swing while shooting from an elevated position.

RE: pendulum sight

Shot it some more today. I had sighted mine in at 20 yards with the pendulum free. I can consistently hit dead on ( give or take a half inch for my error) from about 3 yards to 30 yards. It will be about 1.5 inches low at 35 and about 3-3.5" low at 40. I'm confident that it will help me take some deer this year.

Thanks for the reply LF! I think I'll shoot it fixed and swinging at 20 yards and see if there's any difference.

i have a vital gear pendulum and think its a great pendulum for the faster bows. It's dead quiet and has a lockable pin that receives excellent light. Last year i was shooting maybe 230 fps and had a lot of arrow drop from 20 to 30 yards, this year i'm now shooting about 255 fpsand have noticed better groups. If your shooting a slower bow i'd recommend sticking with a multi pin sight.

RE: pendulum sight

okay. I settled with trying the tru glo adjustable pendulum. I like it so far. I have it sighted in the treestand 15ft up and it is very accurate from 0-30 yards. I have a 2 inch drop at 35 yards. Not bad I think. I am going to work on getting my slide tape set now for the ground game part of the sight. I got the tru glo .029 tritium pin and it is awesom. no batteries needed and you can see the deer target in very minimal light with no halo on the pin like when you use a lighted pin. the sight is just a little noisy when shot. I guess with any pendulum it will have this sound b/c it is a moving part. I am going to try and quieten it with a sims pad or two on the sight to deaden the vibration sound. overall after one afternoon of shooting I am very pleased with it. I used to have a keller pendulum and it made the same noise when I shot it also. no more guessing just aim at the heart and that is where you will hit. I can hit a coke can size target out to 35 yards with no problem in the pendulum mode. I sighted the pendulum in at 25 yards in the treestand. thanks for the help and input guys. just trying to give back to ya'll on my findings.

I cannot find a slide pendulum combo on the savage website.

It's called the QC Ranger which stands for Quick Click.

I use a trophy ridge mantis, so far i love it it can be used as a pendulum or single pin with the adjuster knob.
