another newbie question

has anyone had problems threading the practice heads into their arrows? i found that several would either strip the threading or not go down more than 3 turns when screwing into the arrow shaft. i am using 5/16 100gr. field tips.

just a thought...

You may have gotten some bad inserts. I'd run a 8-32 tap/thread chaser down them to clean out any burrs.

Hope that helps you...

It might be you have a bit of glue that oozed up into the insert. You can also try snugging it into the tough spot, remove and clean the tip threads, snug, clean, and so on til it threads all the way in. You can find Taps at any hardware store, try searching True Value, Ace, or any other close to you.

I agree, it is probably just glue in the insert. Having a tap on hand is always a good idea. They are cheap, and will be used. Take field tip or insert down to your local hardware dealer and ask him for a tap of the same thread. I got mine at Hecters Hardware.
