Anyone try the bow-mount chrono?
I came across this unique gadget while talking to a friend who uses this company's baseball glove radar unit that goes on the back of a catcher's mit to clock the incoming pitch.
This is a bow-mounted chronograph using doppler physics to measure speed. Says it's accurate to within +/- 2% through a range of 150-450fps. Just wondering if anyone has used this device before? It would be nice not to have to lug along my chrono, stand, lighting kit, etc..... ![]() http://www.archeryradar.com/features.html |
RE: Anyone try the bow-mount chrono?
Five of us went together and bought one of these this summer, it is some slick. Takes no time to mount, simple to use, and gives very consistant readings. The readings were very close to what we had been getting shooting through a chronograph, but it's a LOT easier to use.

RE: Anyone try the bow-mount chrono?
I've seen and heard the exact opposite of Slo-bo.
I saw one at Bedford last year that would not read the same speed twice, over about a 15 shot span it had 12 or 13 different readings and some of them were within 15ft fps of each other. Let me point out that when I first saw it,.... it was not on the market yet so it may have had problems that they have repaired by now. |
RE: Anyone try the bow-mount chrono?
I think this thing sucks! My main entertainment when waiting interminably to get on to some of the slower shoots, is to watch guys bean the chrono. If this thing works, the major entertainment of 3D will be permanently lost.

OHarcher- maybe they had a bad one, or we just got a good one. We have had none of the variations that you speak of.
Ossage-My sympathies, that does sound like some fine entertainment!! |

As I stated I beleive the couple I saw were prototypes right when they first came out.I'm sure they took the time to get all the bugs worked out.
Black Frog I remember some lengthy posts about this particular chrono on the archery network, maybe try a search and see if you can find them.it was a few months back. |
