spin test ?
 

I really would like to know the right way to do this and what I am actually looking for? If I put a BH on and spin it, do I put it in my hand or on a hard surface? Will I be able to see or feel if it is out of whack? And do I just free spin it like a top?

If you spin it like a top, you can see really bad wobble. You want a buy a cheap spin tester.You can get one for like 6 dollars. With a spin tester you can see wobble up to .004" pretty easy. You want to watch the tip, and see if it wobbles.
