Berger Holes and Rest Height

does most tuners start thier rest height even with the berger holes? Or do some go above a little?

I've watched shop owners set-up my Allegience even with the hole.

However, I've found that with my bow it's intunewith the arrow about center with the top of the hole. Not sure if tht is good or bad but it sure seems to work well for me.

Every Hoyt I have ever tuned has always done best when the centerline of the arrow is aligned with the top of the berger button hole (or above).

The other advantage I see with this is it give you some extra clearance on a drop away rest.

If they are shooting well, don't bother.

Definitely! But if you ever decide to change rests or anything, then that'd be the time to level up with the center of the hole and readjust your tiller for the new nock point.

Ok, thanks. I thinkI am goingt o change rests but not until I get my new bow, so like a year or two. It is good to know though.

I have had a few drop a ways that liked the arrow a bit high to get enough clearance, other than that I usually set them up even. I have noticed my bowtech likes a nock high setting though.

RE: Berger Holes and Rest Height

Some bow manufacturers recommend that you have the arrow set at a particular height for the optimum tune with their bows. For instance, Ross recommends that the bottom of the arrow be even with the middle of the Berger hole. Some want the middle of the arrow through the middle of the hole and so on.

My question to the manufacturers is, are the recommendations to get optimum efficiency or straightest nock travel? I'm suspect and am hoping it's the latter.
