Champion Mustang...friend bought one, any input?
Well after finding out the PSE that he was going to borrow from me has cracked limbs. He went out and got a Champion Mustang Single Cam for a really good price.
Just wondering if anybody has any experience with these bows? |

well the bad news is that Champion is now out of business, But I can say the Mustang is a good bow, but good luck getting replacement parts for it if you need them.

I noticed that they only made bows from 2003 to 2004 they way it looks on OnTarget2. He just bought it for somoething to use this year...I have searched and searched..either I am google challenged but I can't find a damn thing on them...other than they were made in Canada?
how much would you pay for one fully set up? He wanted to know if they were just fillin him full of crap and just tryin to get rid of the bow, or if he actually paid for what he got. I still haven't got a chance to see it. |

was it brand new when he bought it? Champion bows were made much longer than that they started in the mid 90's I believe. THey made a very nice bow, but got bitten when they ignored some ones patent and got sued and forced out of business. I think probably brand new that bow ran about $500 to $600 dollars, I wouldn't have paid any more than half of that if it was brand new. but more likely it is only work a quarter of what it was new sionce the company is now out of business

He got the full set-up for like 250 I think...He said he really likes the way it looks and feels..He wants a different sight..but that is about it.

I'd say thats not bad what he paid for it. lets just hope he has no problems with it. When it was made it was a pretty solid bow.

I hope so too...I don't know if you read my post about "my friend has a dilemma"
His first shot with a bow, the damn thing came apart on him. It was a Diamond Liberty that he was pretty much sold on.....the look on his face afterwards was priceless, but it still sucked that it happened. Somebody said the the limb bolts may have been backed out too far. I couldn't stop laughing after we left. I mean it sucked that the bow was pretty much wrecked, but the whole situation was just too much for me. He was so nervous to shoot the bow in the first place because he had never shot a bow and then That happened..what are the chances? |

Trust me with an inexperienced shop working on your bow, or just a shop that doesn't care it can happen very easily. Trust me there are tons of bad shops out there.

Champion made fine bows. The chances of a riser or limb breaking are pretty low. That's a good price and worth the risk in my opinion. Have him keep his eye open for a broken one he can use as parts. He might even find a used working one, for a very low price.

Ill second what Straightarrow said , champion made very nice bows , If he got it in good condition , and takes care of it , it will make a great rig .
