IMO there's no set rule.

I figure if one is wearing then so will the other. Get a hold of John (Gibblet on here) and he can set you up with some great strings and cables. For the cost it is just worth it to replace both at the same time. IMO.

As my own personal rule I replace cables as a set but don't necessarily replace cables and string at the same time. I find cables will outlast a string nearly 2 to 1. (New string every year and cables every 2 unless damaged.)

RE: CABLE AND STRING REPLACEMENT

I personally prefer to change the entire harness when it's time to change a string.

Maybe some feel it is over kill, but the cables are more load bearing than the string. The string in a sense is just along for the ride. If the string is showing signs of wear, and the cables are taking the brunt of the load, to me it makes better sense to replace them all at the same time.

Everything seats in equally.

RE: CABLE AND STRING REPLACEMENT

It makes perfect sense to replace both. I just wanted to know, being new at this, how others with more experience than me thought about it. Again thanks for all the great inputs.
