looking for suggestions
 

I recieved an older bear bow from one of my friends last year. Its a better bow than the seneca I hadbeenusing,so I started shooting it in the back yard. It shot fine but the draw length is about 2 1/2 inches too long. I tuck my thumb right infront of my ear (behind my jaw bone) for an anchor point.

I put on broadheads a couple weeks ago just because I was curious to see how they shot compared to the field tips. When I pulled back, the blade of the broadhead deflected off the riser and popped off the rest. I hadnt realized the arrows were so short, so I went out and bought new arrows.

I took the arrows home and took one shot at 30 yds (using field tips). The arrow hit the dirt infront of the target (I shoot at a block target). I thought I had just screwed up the shot somehow, but the other two arrows also hit the dirt.

This led me to major confusion. I dropped my pins and tried again, but I still hit low.

I ended up havingto drastically drop my pins and lower my nocking point. My pins are now so low that there is barely room for my 30 yard pin and I had to completely get rid of my 40 yard pin.

I tried to do some paper tuning, but because I lowered my nocking point, I came out having a long low tear. Im worried that If I raise my nocking point, my arrow will drop and I will be forced to discard my 30 yard pin.

Im merely looking for some suggestions of what to do. Id really like to practice from farther ranges but am not sure how its possible for me to do so.

I can try to post pictures of the bow later if anyone would like to see them.

Im not sure if this is any useful information, but there is a 1" space between my 10 and 30 yard pin.

Make sure the arrow is going through the center of the berger buttons on the riser when the arrow is nocked and sitting on the rest. Also check the nock placement and see if the arrow is sitting level

Maybe your longer arrows are way too heavy. Something got way out of wack when you switched arrows. My advice would be to yake your whole setup to a proshop and have them check it out now. Don't wait till a week before season like everyone else is sure to do.

Adjust your Draw Length back to your proper length and use your old arrows

Sorry guys but im not able to post any photos for some reason. Photobucket wont upload my pix correctly.

Thanks for the help. I really wish I could post some photos of the bow though. Its about as basic as you can get compared to modern compounds. Its just got a stick-on rest, the old style circular cams, no way to change the draw length, and Im only able to set the bow at 50, 55,or 60 lbs.

Ill try to have someone look at it within the next couple weeks.[&o]

I would have to agree with jmbuckhunter seems to be the best idea to me.
