serving wear on vulcan
 

Have any of you guys who own hoyt bows with the vector cams had any issue with the serving on your cable being torn up? I only have 500 or so shots thru my vulcan and i can see the orange of the fuse string thru my serving on the cable above my bottom cam.

I have a fred bear obsession and the serving wore down in about 200 shots im trying to find out the problem but haven't found anything yet

I have the Fred Bear Instinct and have the same issue. I sent it back to Bear for repair and they replaced the lower limb. 100 shots later, it is doing the same thing again. I will be interested to see if anyone has a fix.

Talked to my dealer he said he found a small bur in the bottom cam and hoyt is sending new cams strings and cables. Seems like a lot of the vector cams are having this problem so if you own a vectrix,vectrix xl vulcan or any other hoyt bow with the vector cams keep a close eye on them.A guy from A.T. had his buss cable snap becuse of this problem.

My Vectrix is doing the exact same thing as your Vulcan. Looking at it closely, there's adesign flaw in the bottom cam that's cutting the serving. This could turn into an epidemic once the hunting season is in full swing and people start shooting their bows more. I only have 250 shots through mine and the serving is already ripped to shreds.

one thing that may help is a slightly thinner cable w/ thinner braided serving.

The serving on my cable from the bottom cam of my Vulcan was separating as well. No indication of any burr on my bottom cam. I was told that the serving on the Fuse string/cables was the problem.

I just replaced my Fuse with WC today. No problem what so ever with the serving that I can see as of yet with over 100 arrows shot today.

Got the cams and cables replaced last week so far so good after maybe 100-150 arrows no marks. I am gonna keep a close eye on it. Anymore problemsand i willreplace the strings and cables with WC or some other good aftermarket string. Like hoyttail said i hope guys check their strings it would suck to notice this a week before the season.

I called Hoyt last Friday regarding a couple different questions as well as why the serving was separatingon the cable of thelower cam.

Two things, either it is a Fuse serving problem, or a burr. He said the burr would be very recognizable as well you should be able to feel it.

I scoured my lower cam and found no imperfection in thecable groove or anywhere near the flat.

I told him that I had recently replaced the fuse with a WC harness. He said to keep an eye on the situation and if I noticed the serving separating to call them and they would send new cams to the closest Hoyt dealer for me. All I had to do was pick them up, drop off my set and I'd be good to go.

I do all of myown mechanic work on my bows and thought that was an equtiable solution should I need assistance.

Still no sign of wear on the WC.I checked another fella that I know who just picked up a Vulcan and inspected his lower cam. His was identical to mine. He's a machinist and said that everything looked good andwhat I had found on my cam was meerly a machining mark andassured me it would have nonegative effect on my cable and that it was not a burr.
