I just bought a bow and im not sure what arrows to get.

60-70#
28" draw length
drop away rest

Im just going to hunt with it. What weight and length arrows do i need for deer hunting. Im not really looking for the fastest but maybe something in the middle of the road. Fast with energy.

If your looking at Easton or Beman ,I think you'd be best withthe 340's

The Beman charts are saying 400's instead of the 340's. Any suggestions?

Hey Aussie Guy, what do you suggest as far as the whole arrow setup. Im thinking the 400's at 27 inches with 100grain broad heads.

need to know your draw legnth. a bow with 60-70lb limbs can be set from atleast 60-70lbs.

if you arent comfortable drawing 70lbs and you buy arrows spined for 70lbs you will run into spine issues...

find out your draw legnth and arrow legnth and report back for better help...or let the shop do it for you..

good luck....not trying to confuse you...i just dont know any way to shop for arrows and correct spine without arrow legnth and draw weight

we can all guess...but thats not something i like to guess at. poorly spined arrows will cause headaches....i learned my lesson once:D

The correct arrow length is 1'' in front of the rest. Taking this into consideration you have to calculate that when making your selection. Length will affect arrow spine. The 400 rating is only at a given length. Therefore you must go with that suggested weight and play around with draw weight to match it to your arrow spine atthe correctlengtharrow length for your setup.

I am no expert here but this is what I have gathered from otherthreads similiar to this. Maybe someonewith more experience can axpolain it better and more clearly than I.

Everybody is different. I have seen guys with 2.75" of arrow in front of their rest and I have seen 1/8" of arrow in front of their rests. 1" is a good place to start but you could certainly go shorter if you want to.

I highly suggest downloading the On Target 2 software. It is free during the trial period and you can input every little thing about your setup. It will tell you what arrows, length, etc. to purchase to optimize your rig.

Ok I just ran your info and with the arrow Art mentioned the program came up with the following.

This is based on 70lb draw weight so if you use lower draw weight things will change.

The 6075 @28"with a 100gr head 3x2" Blazers the arrow should be around 452gr's with a FOC of 9.6% and estimated speed of 266fps the spine will be on the marginal stiff side.

I downloaded the on target software and if i did everything right the software is telling me that with the bow set at 65# with the draw length at 28" then the Beman ICS Hunter 400shafts at 27" long with a 125 grain broad head will be good. Does this sound right?
