Arrow poll anyone !

I was shooting my Bowtech Mighty mite 63.5 lbs.-27" with 26.5 Easton Epic 500 arrow 344 grns. at 20 yards today and hit a 16 penny nail that was holding my 2" square spot. The target is the black board that a lot of ranges use. The arrow broke almost exactly in half. This got me to thinking, would other brands of arrows break like this. This is where the poll comes in. I would greatly appricate feed back on the arrows you are using and ones you have used. Could you answer the following questions below:
1). What is the toughest arrow you have shot?
2). What is the most accurate arrow you have shot?
3). What is the most durable arrow you have shot?
4). what arrow (besides alum.) pulls best from 3d targets?

For woods anyway...

1) Toughest (As in resistant to breaking on a hard impact?) - Hickory or maple

2) Most accurate - Properly selected, straight grained, and closely matched cedar, fir, or larch

3) Most durable (As in resistant to nicks and dings over time?) - Hickory or maple again

4) Pulls best - Any woodie sealed with laquer

5) Pulls worst - Any woodie sealed with shellac, with oil based polyurethanes not far behind

AK you kill me - when I saw you posted to this I figured you'd list your favorite branches!!!!

I've only shot 3 types of carbons & the GoldTips were THE best all around - I love my 3D Pro's & they lasted ALL 3D season which is a REAL feat!!!! I did break one but it was my own fault - pulled crooked out of the target - prior to that I buzzed through a dozen Forge Xtreme's & a dozen Carbon Express' It wasn't as though the GT's weren't getting whacked too - every tourney there were vanes to repair but I didn't lose ONE from getting hit.

As for pulling - I make lubing them with Ivory part of my shot sequence & I think once you do that they're all pretty darn equal.

Hey AK, I was thinking of carbons but if you want a tough woodie, try some ash. I don't think you can break them. I have some from AMAW and they are about indestructable but weigh about 2 lbs. apiece (well they feel and shoot like they do)and are a bear to keep straight.I find the tapered ceder from Rogue river to be the most accurate. I have shot just about every style of arrow at one time or another. I just picked up a bunch of Cabelas sst carbon arrows. They are the "skinny" carbons. They are as durable as an arrow gets, and they are straighter and more consistant than the ICS type carbons. I love Acc's, but the price is way to high for my blood. I can't say these that the skinny carbons are for you, but I believe they are going to be in my quiver next year. The results so far have been very positive. The only problem is you will need either a dropaway style rest or something like the Wisker Bisquit as fletching clearance is almost impossible to get.

1. Toughest - Nitro Traditionals, no question.
2. Most accurate XX 78
3. Most durable - Nitro Traditionals
4. Easiest to pull - Carbon Express camo, but you still have to soap them up!

I'm planning on getting some ACC's, since my local dealer has them for $99 (shafts).

5-shot, I hope your experience with Cabela's SST's is better than mine. I liked Beman Hunters and Carbon Hunters, but the SSTs were sent back before the 30 days was up!

Avoid the inevitable until it is absolutely unavoidable!

Thanks guys, I ordered the Beman ICS hunters today. I was thinking about the Gold Tip but wasn't sure which size I would need. They were about the same price as the Easton epics so that was a good surprise. I have some of the old Beaman camo hunters. They are good arrows but are the absolute worst finish I have ever seen on an arrow. They are rough and comes off when you scrape vanes off. They will adhere to my normal target made out of black board and are almost impossible to pull out. The last 6" of the arrows has the target material fused to them. I hate to think what they would do in a 3d target. I to have found the ACC to be very accurate but I had one to accuatly bend one time. I didn't think this was possible but it bent like a rainbow. I can't bring myself to pay 100.00 for shafts that will bend. Don
